because if you lose by making one mistake you're not really gonna play in extra time...
you're more likely to try for a goal if you can come back from giving one up

Totally agree. Unless you are just a huge underdog in the game what coach would ever actually want to go to PKs?

I'd assume it's for endurance reasons but I wish they'd go back to it. I hate PKs.

I still think MLS's 1v1 with the goalkeeper instead of PK's was much better than ending with PKs

Lots of state high school associations use an 8 second 1v1 as their shootout.

Although I don't like games being decided on PK's, I hate the 1v1 shootout. I just think it's retarded. I realize PK's are the long standing traditional overtime of soccer, I would just rather the game be decided in play. What is yall's opinion of a "play until someone scores" overtime? Maybe play 10 or 15 minute periods, and allow teams 1 or 2 extra subs after the first period. Just a thought of an alternative way that came to mind.
