Those were his wages demands I tried low balling him at first and was told to kick rocks. I only paid a million for him anyway

You gotta overpay for the best. I tried to get Messi one year. Barca agreed to a $135 million fee. Could not get Messi to agree to a contract. Offered over $2 million/week and nothing.

Technically it's not that much in base salary bc players don't get paid in the offseason

For the third separate time, on my career mode while playing for USA Josh Gatt has developed into a key player on the national team within 1-2 seasons of play lol

Gatt always seems to just do things that work. I don't know what about either his stats or the "personality" EA claims each character has, but his works. He's a great pickup for a free transfer in the first January for pretty much any team not at the top of Europe. I even brought him into Arsenal once on a whim for cup matches. Somehow, he always seemed to be the one to pull me out of the fire if I had used too many "reserve" guys and underestimated the opposition.

In Fall 2024 USA has hired me for my 2nd try at the helm. They fired me after losing to Italy in the R16 in 2022 (friggin Qatar).

Due mostly to my scouting at Port Vale, we have a solid team (4.5 stars)

I run a 3-5-2

GK: Orozco, 22 y/o, 80 Ovr
CB: Hamidou, 21 y/o, 77 Ovr (technically a RB, but he's 6'3" and plays CB)
CB: Brooks, 31 y/o, 82 Ovr
CB: Palmer-Brown, 27 y/o, 78 Ovr
CDM: Warner, 19 y/o, 81 Ovr
RM: Green, 28, y/o, 77 Ovr
CM: Zelalem, 28 y/o, 85 Ovr
CM: Rogers, 25 y/o, 84 Ovr
LM: Zardes, 33 y/o, 74 Ovr
ST: Finley, 26 y/o, 78 Ovr
ST: Williams, 25 y/o, 77 Ovr

Honorable Mention: Piedrahita, 16 y/o ST (75 Ovr)

You need to get him on your club team. Guys that highly rated are usually 85-86 ovr by 21 for me.

I have a striker thats 92 ovr at 25 years old. Just a monster. I haven't played career mode since I got into ultimate team though.

He is on my club team. I scouted most of these guys.

GK: Orozco, 22 y/o, 80 Ovr
CB: Hamidou, 21 y/o, 77 Ovr (technically a RB, but he's 6'3" and plays CB) *Sold him to Sunderland because his pace is about 50*
CDM: Warner, 19 y/o, 81 Ovr
CM: Zelalem, 28 y/o, 85 Ovr *Just sold to BVB for £20.5M*
CM: Rogers, 25 y/o, 84 Ovr *Sold to Chelsea for £50M in 2020*

Honorable Mention: Piedrahita, 16 y/o ST (75 Ovr)

Not claiming Zelalem as a scouted player but I did develop him to the man he is today.

I ended up with a few Americans that reached 85-86 ovr. Portugal always produced the most high end players for me, followed by Spain, Brazil, and Argentina.

Belgium always produces insane talent for me. I also always seem to get the best CBs from Spain and France. I got my first good player from Argentina this year. I usually strike out there.

I had Palmer Brown but he forced a move to Palace for just over a million. 4 years later they want 45 million for him

Finally had my first rage quite on manager mode after losing to Middlesbrough in the League Cup final. Yes I lost to a championship team. Their goalie had a match rating of 9.9 dude made 15 fricking saves and their match winner the computer I shite you not, played the ball off his arm into the net and they said it was an own goal. When the final whistle blew I was like frick this and closed the FIFA application on PS4 so it didn't save.

Was losing 3-0 yesterday. Got two back and was through on goal in stoppage time, but then Lacazette pulled his hamstring. I turned the game off.

A (not so) brief update. I scouted USA for 18 months leading up to the 2026 WC. I successfully found 3 LW/LM, 1 LB, 1 RB, 2 RM/RW all with the "winger" trait. I also found 4 "physically strong" CB.

Starting lineup for the WC is now (3-5-1-1):
GK: Orozco, 24 y/o, 83 Ovr
CB: Hamidou, 22 y/o, 83 Ovr (technically a RB, but he's 6'3" and plays CB)
CB: Brooks, 32 y/o, 82 Ovr
CB: Gonzalez, 19 y/o, 78 Ovr
CDM: Zavaleta, 23 y/o, 82 Ovr
RM: Green, 30, y/o, 75 Ovr
CM: Zelalem, 28 y/o, 86 Ovr
CM: Warner, 22 y/o, 83 Ovr
LM: Robinson, 17 y/o, 75 Ovr
CF: Piedrahita, 18 y/o, 79 Ovr
ST: Williams, 27 y/o, 80 Ovr

**I might be off on the ages a bit, I'm doing it from memory.

I won every group game.
3-1 (England)
2-1 (Slovenia)
3-0 (Chile)

The good thing is that my scouting is falling into place nicely. I have a solid back-up for every player that is older than 30. Some positions are also starting to have multiple players of similar quality.

Holy shite. I usually scout a country for 3 months. Of course when I was playing career mode I was more catered to my club team, but I did lead the U.S. to 2 world cups before taking over Spain. My spanish team doesn't have a player rated lower than 85 in the starting 11.

My biggest gripe with career mode is that if you cut a young player loose you can't resign him. He stays as a free agent. Really rustles my jimmies because I cut a guy that ended up as a 90 ovr striker with 98 long shots.

I'm stuck on who to start a new career with. I rarely play in England, so I want to give it a shot. Trying to decide between 3 Championship clubs: Blackburn, Blackpool, or Reading, or a League 2 club: Northampton Town.

Seems like career mode is the most popular on this board, does no one play ultimate team?
