I usually only buy a new FIFA game every three years to offset the "lack of new features" disappointment (was planning to buy 17 anyways) and I have to say, I'm looking forward to this year's version.

So after watching some new game footage (the one with reus playing against some clown, perhaps at gamescon), i finally see the value of the new engine. Looks legit next-gen and much less herky-jerky than 16.
Futhead has a ton of hands-on preview articles and vids on their youtube channel. The new FUT modes sound cool. Weekly tournys and squad building challenges that you swap in for player cards.
Still gonna be super pissed with manager mode though. Have no idea why they cant bring it even halfway to what Madden is doing in its franchise mode. Madden's contract negotiations and "Big Moments" feature is lightyears ahead of anything fifa has had in ages. Thats not even mentioning online, multiplayer career modes. Ugh. frick you ea, heres my money anyway.

i think in terms of popularity, manager mode is just dying
online seasons hti it hard and FUT kind of killed it
there is just little benefit to invest in a rehaul b/c it's not going to make much difference in sales

Hopefully they take the obvious scripting out of manager mode this year.
