The League of Ireland was in shock on Monday over the sudden death of the captain of Derry City at the age of 27. Ryan McBride was found dead at his home in Derry on Sunday evening. The cause is unknown. As a mark of respect all first round EA Sports Cup games due to be played on Tuesday have been postponed.

McBride passed away 24 hours after captaining Derry to victory over Drogheda United, the club’s fourth straight league win this season. The previous week McBride scored the winner against Shamrock Rovers and was regarded as one of the most talented players in the league. He came from the Brandywell district of Derry where the club’s ground is based.

He'd apparently gotten sick a few days before.

The town and club are really closely tied together.

James McClean has pulled out of Eire training to attend the funeral.

Yo TN, This is the most recent thread of yours I could find, what's up with Dembele? Has he cooled off significantly or something? I thought he was a shoe in for a big move and French call up. Regardless I'd still love to get him lol

He was Scottish Player of the Month for February. He's had three bad matches in a row, but he's also been carrying a bit of an injury, so...

Well, he's only been at Celtic since the summer, but, if you believe the French media, he turned down a deadline day move to Chelsea in January. I just want him to stay at Celtic at least through the UCL qualifiers.

French call up.

Have you seen this fricking squad?

There are about six strikers who are worthy of call-ups who didn't get one. France is stacked in that position. However, if Dembele keeps going for Celtic and keeps tearing it up for the French youths, he'll get a call-up in the summer.

On the subject of the OP, McClean has changed his Eire squad number to McBride's 5 for this group of internationals.
