2018 can't get here soon enough. This has been 20 years in the making. I love the huge vertical wall. Bara Brava going to get rowdy in there.

Looks like the printer ran out of color toner.

It's the club colors jack arse

No shite. But the bright red seats and green grass is a noticeable contrast to the grey seats behind the goal. Just looks like they thought, "We've used enough color in this rendering. Switch to greyscale."

It's just the first thing that came to mind. It's a nice looking stadium, it just lacks color.

On Wednesday the club announced that the new stadium will be called Audi Field after a stadium naming rights deal struck with Audi of America. "Audi has transcended the automobile industry and fully embraced the culture of soccer, especially in MLS," said Jason Levien, D.C. United Managing General Partner, in a club statement. "We couldn’t think of a better partner to name our stadium and we look forward to forging extraordinary memories for years to come at Audi Field.” United plan to break ground on Audi Field in the first quarter of 2017. The state-of-the-art facility will have a capacity of 20,000 fans and will feature 31 luxury suites, a bike valet, and 500,000 total square feet of mixed-use retail and residential space on site. On Monday, the Washington Post reported that the D.C. Zoning Commission, which has final approval over the project, is meeting Thursday to discuss the project in southwest Washington D.C. If permission is granted by the commission, United can begin to apply for building permits.

Looks cool. Is it going to be in DC proper or out in Virginia or something?

D.C. proper near the Nats stadium
That whole area of the city is completely changing

Isn't this like the third stadium render that's been released in the last 2 years?

Anything is better than RFK. Happy for United fans.
Now we just need to get Robert Kraft on board for getting the Revs a new stadium. Probably will never happen.

DC has been needing and working toward a new stadium for a long time. Looks good and should make for an exciting atmosphere what with the location and the cozy confines.

Looks like the fans will be right on top of you and we have our own Dortmund style wall set up which will definitely be were the fan groups will sit.
Can't think of any other stadium with the fans right on top of you in MLS other than the new Orlando ground.

I especially like how the stadium is wedged into the urban footprint with city streets right next to the structure. This ground will have a lot of character, nooks, and crannies and they will be born of necessity, not of a desire to be quirky. The urban block is a tight fit and there is a significant easement (big enough to drive a truck through) running right through the stands that the designers had to build around in the plan. No significant excavation can occur because of complex underground utility infrastructure.
These unique factors along with the location in the city core close to the river will make for a brilliant match day. I hope to visit at some point. Perhaps you and I will take in a DC match one day.

The stadium looks sick
But hey, the MLS isn't growing and these great stadiums like DC and Orlando City are figments of our imagination
