I think he can do it, but it seems like almost every Man Utd fan I come across want them to buy someone for $80mil instead.

Depth. Look at City. Arguably the best team in the league on paper BUT they have little/no depth. We had Jesus Navas and Fernandinho playing RB at times this year. When Kompany goes down we leak goals like crazy.

Rashford is a good player but he's not good enough or proven enough to go into a season with him as your only option. It was dumb for us to do it this year and we had Aguero.

Agreed. But what i'm getting at is buy a backup in the $10-$20mil range. Not a superstar that will see Rashford wallow away on the bench all year.

£20 million won't get you much into today's market let alone $20 million

Unless you find a diamond in the rough.

Can't see him leapfrogging Wood or Stuart Dallas. Should stay put IMHO

anynoe who would is insane, and i love CR7

however i will say that even at his advanced age, he was still an end boss last year at wing/ST hybrid and if he accepts a move to a full ST position he could still be world class for a few more years

Sure and if he somehow ended up at PSG i wouldn't cry about it obviously but would just reinforce the short-term and back page first thinking that has defined the worst of the "QSG" era.

Had a feeling that my conversion rate wasn't spot on

But that's just my two cents.

Southgate doesn't even play him at striker

It would be stupid but his transfer fee would be recouped in no time off merchandise and other revenue streams.

That kit would be #1 seller in the world off the bat

Financially it really would make sense because you're spot on.

When does FFP kick in anyhow? I'm not well versed on the details of it.

Ronaldo 32 isn't the same as Joey Barton 32. The guy is in elite physical shape and despite losing a step can still run like the wind. Aside from that his positioning in the box is among the best in the world, and that takes a sharp mind more than quick feet. He's a top 2 player in the world at 32. He can be a top 10 player for another 3 years

Any moral high ground Man United still had over anyone else about being a "big club that does it the right way" went out the window the day Jose walked in the door.

FFP has been largely gutted

United would probably have to spend £500 million for FFP to be an issue

I'm going to have to read up on FFP.
I've never known the details of it honestly.

By and large, it doesn't really hurt the very big clubs...

Oh, I mean it makes all of the sense in the world for United to do it, just would be extremely rich all of the shite United fans say about City's transfer policy

In terms of United, if they can make it happen they 100% should.

My only argument is that playing in Spain isn't even close to playing in England in terms of physicality.
