Could Serie A challenge EPL for 4th CL spot in 16/17?

If next season played out similarly to this one, Serie A could be in a dead heat with the EPL for 3rd place in the UEFA coefficients and take a CL spot away from the EPL for the 2016/17 season.
EPL's current lead is largely based on differences in the 10/11 and 11/12 seasons. One of those disappears from the 4 year calculation period this year and the other next year.
So, it would only take:
1) Juve / Roma / Fiorentina / Napoli (Inter, Torino) getting a couple of more wins than Everton (Arsenal, Man City) the rest of this year
2) Serie A getting their CL playoff club into group stages and maybe one more into the knockouts next year
3) about the same success as this year in EL without an EPL team making the semifinals of CL/EL
Again, not at all a given, but certainly much closer than one may think. It would be a bit ironic since the push would mainly be from EL success which is how Serie A first lost their spot to Bundesliga.
Just the mere threat that the EPL could lose the 4th spot would likely increase the pressure TV execs are already putting on UEFA to extend the 3+1 spots to a 4th league.

Yeah, Arsenal getting past Monaco would help the EPL's prospects immensely.

3-0 Arsenal on St Paddy's Day.
wm72, your thought about TV palying a role in getting a fourth league to 3+1 is probably correct. Especially is UEFA is interested in the growing US market.

What is this 3+1 business about?

Yeah, that's what occurred to me when I was thinking that Serie A very likely pulls close enough this year that similar results next year would make it a complete tossup.
There has to be a lot of TV execs, particularly at FOX, going through the "no . . . what . . . seriously? ? ? frick!" and thinking of anything they can do to not leave it up to chance.
I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal still make it through. It will be tough but not nearly insurmountable as some make it seem since Arsenal is good and there's often a negative psychological component involved in simply having to defend a comfortable lead to begin a match.

Just shorthand to say 3 auto entries into the CL group stage and 1 to the CL playoff round.

Oh, got it. So you're saying execs would want the 4 biggest leagues in Europe to all have 3+1.

If they don't botch the chances like they did in the first leg I could see it. They easily should have scored 3 or 4 at the Emirates.

Yeah, they prefer the most higher profile clubs they get but may really panic if it were specifically the EPL that only had 3.

I hope so. The EPL is very overrated and some of the fanboys need to be taken down a notch.
The other night during the game I overheard some clown say that Chelsea's entire bench would start for PSG. I just shook my head and laughed.

People that keep talking about our "depth" really have no clue what they are talking about. GK and center back are the only positions we have any depth at all.

Wasn't over rotating the issue in the FA Cup?

No damnit, that was Arsene sad that 4th was no longer going to be good enough.

Arsenal has made a comeback like this before. Monaco will will sit back and that could be a problem. 2003 versus Inter... enjoy the highlights.
Miracle

The problem in the FA Cup is that we went up 2-0 against a terrible team at home and thought the game was over and quit playing.

Brentford is not terrible. They will probably be in the BPL next season and I wouldn't be surprised to see them stay up.

True but we lost to Bradford who are slightly above mid-table in League One.

It happens. Complacency sets it in and it really is the most unpredictable game there is. It is England, no team rolls over.
