Getting a big TV deal here is much more important than having another country watching the league.
To compete with the worlds biggest leagues we 100% need big tv deals abroad don’t kid yourself.

is soccer supposed to be THAT different? The NBA had three moves in seven years... But international $$$$$ kept rolling in...
Bc the NBA has no competition
MLS has a frick ton
Kids don’t grow up wanting to lift the mls cup

We can't get there without it being embraced here. Don't kid yourself.

Chicago needs a stadium in the city... currently out in BFE (Bridgeview).. have to drive to get out there and there is literally nothing else appealing in that area...
Any other sports venue in the city is reasonably accessible via the CTA.. I'd strongly consider season tix if it was better located..
best season in years and stadium still has many empty seats... unfortunately, its only ~10 years old and it looks like we're stuck out there..

Soccer fans abroad hate the idea of teams moving
Why? I'm not trying to be an arse. It's an honest question. Why would soccer fans abroad, that are currently not watching, that likely won't be attending games here even if they do start watching, care about an MLS team moving?

When did I say we didn’t need a big tv deal at home?

We were talking about the league’s impression abroad

Do fans abroad go to and watch EPL and La Liga matches
Look at the monster tv deals the EPL has outside of England
Well there is your answer

Then why bring up the at home tv deal about the league’s marketability abroad
We all know that is needed at home.

Why would people abroad want to watch a league that isn't even supported at home?
Posted on 10/18/17 at 10:56 am to pvilleguru
They won’t
But this move hurts the league image at home and abroad
Austin should go through the proper procedure like everyone else.

Do we need to link all your crusade against MLS threads
This deal is disgusting and it’s exactly what you have pretended to fight against.
You are a phony, your city gets a team and you compromise your supposed soccer “morals”

In the end.. if the quality of play on the pitch ever reaches the levels of the top leagues in Europe, with top players.. people the world over will tune in... whatever the league model is..

10+ years down the line when/if the league starts to become marketable abroad, people won't care about this.

You think those same fans abroad would stop going to EPL and La Liga mathches if a team moved?

Why would top players come if they know the team can just up and move or they can be traded somewhere and have no say in it?
Posted on 10/18/17 at 11:11 am to pvilleguru
I hate to see a team fold or relocate, but let's be honest. When's the last time someone that wasn't a Columbus fan thought, "The Crew is on TV! Hell yeah."
