A normally offensive-minded Cottager side stayed within the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham to visit Chelsea atto Stamford Bridge. They still have not won a match since September 15, but came away with a well-deserved point keeping a clean sheet in the process.

The Telegraph had this to say, this morning.
quote:

From the Telegraph Clearly, the Chelsea supporters had decided to make their point soundlessly. The Shed and the Matthew Harding Upper and Lower were largely restrained, restricting their show of dissent towards Benítez to some chants after 16 minutes, noting Di Matteo’s old shirt number, and at the end. The main f-word heard was “Fulham, Fulham”.

The visiting fans were terrific, in fine form throughout, beginning by mocking the Bridge announcer’s request for them to sit down by all standing up. They then serenaded the hosts’ interim first-team manager with “Rafa Benítez, he works where he wants”. The Fulham glee club then disagreed with a (fair) decision by Anthony Taylor with a chant of “We want Mark Clattenburg”
I simply LOVE it.

I kept up with it on gamecast, but that was it. I've thought about watching it on FS2go, but I guess I shouldn't. Was it that bad?

I'm really torn with whether I want to watch the replay or not. On one hand its apparently miserably boring, on the other hand, one of my favorite past times is watching train wrecks.

Especially Chelsea and now Benitez, right? I didn't follow EPL when Benitez and Liverpool parted. I'm guessing it wasn't amicable?

Chelsea is in deep trouble IMO... It's too late in the season to implement a new strategy even with world class talent. Oh and the game was terrible as I watched it live along with the Spurs on my computer

I'd say one half to two thirds of the fans wanted him to stay. He wanted to stay. The owners wanted him out.

Most of the fans were livid. He's still regarded as a legend to most of the supporters.

This Chelsea situation is being overblown. They'll be fine. Rafa has been there a week and has already clearly improved the defense with 2 clean sheets. He'll move on to the midfield next.

It wasn't a tactical benching from what I've read. The guy is tired. His place in the XI is safe.

You let Mata make that choice. He was clearly pissed as was Hazard coming off for the 2nd match in a row.

Why is Chelsea run by the players? It seems like every manager has to ask permission from the locker room to do anything around the bridge.

It's just one of those things man. Chelsea fans are delusional about their club. They think their players are the second coming.

This is the exact reason Rafa was the worst hire imaginable. Those fans are searching for anything negative instead of looking at the silver lining. They think it's a conspiracy and their manager is out to get them.

In reality, they recorded back to back clean sheets in the PL for the first time this season. Something they only did TWICE all of last season. Yes, the offensive showing has been horrid, but that is directly related to a defensive improvement.

Rafa is a defensive coach, everyone knows that. Logically, the defense was going to be the first part of the team he would work on. Whether he goes on to finish in the top 4 or not is yet to be seen. But shite, give the guy a month with the team first.
