I believe FSW will continue to waste precious energy chasing this worthless trophy.

Fine with me. I guess we'll play starters instead of looking ahead to United because we've come this far?

So you'd rather him throw away the only possible trophy that Chelsea actually has a chance of winning this year?

Are you serious? Yes, I don't give two monkey dongs about "winning" a losers trophy.

If we were safely in the top 4 then sure go all out for it. However, reality is we are in an all out dogfight for that 4th spot and we play Manchester United and Tottenham in the next 6 days. The youth team should play this game.

I like to see them win just for my own enjoyment. The trophy doesn't mean much, but I like seeing the blues go up. Confidence bleeds from game to game.

I'm looking at the numbers and finishing in the top 4 is going to be tight. Arsenal's probably going to finish at 73 points, so they'll be in as long as they don't screw up. Assuming that Tottenham beat Southampton, Stoke, and Sunderland(I think they have a good chance of doing this), they'll be at 71 points if they lose to us, 72 with a tie, and 74 with a win. For Chelsea, with a win against United, can still finish 3rd even if we lose to Tottenham, if we beat Villa and Everton(74 points with better GD). A draw against Man U won't affect the chance at top 4 assuming everyone wins, because if we were to lose to Tottenham we'd still be out. Clearly this assumes everyone beats their other opponents, but if it plays out this way, we have to try to beat Man U this weekend because a draw or loss would be the same thing as far as final points go because we'd still be up if we win or draw against Tottenham and down if we lose.

I wouldn't mind Mata or Hazard sitting today and only coming on if we need a goal, because they each have a lot of minutes over the past 10 days considering we have 2 games where we'll have to have them in 6 days. If they do both start, hopefully we can get an early goal and let them sit after that.

This. Some of you folks are more miserable than LSU fans.

Have to agree with Randy on this one. SAF is trying to break the blues points records. He will not be starting his bench warmers. We really, really need the points. CL next season is much more important that this bullshite trophy.

We drew with Arsenal last week. We can't break the record.

Probably not, he may want to get some revenge for that FA Cup exit.

It has nothing to do with being miserable and everything to do with being able to see the big picture. I get enjoyment from seeing Chelsea at the top not for winning consolation prizes.

Winning Europa and missing out on the CL is still a disastrous season for Chelsea.

The only way this season can be salvaged is to qualify for the CL next year and every available resource should be focused solely on that aim.
