Griezmann isn't going anywhere for under 45 million pounds

If Courtois gets hurt, you want Jamal Blackman starting in the Premier League and Champions League?

He would certainly raise our swag factor. That's got to count for something.

I just think there's a range of potential signings between starting Blackman and signing Begovic. Plus I don't get it from Begovic's perspective. He could start for a few teams and now he agrees to play 2nd fiddle to Courtois

ETA: I should say he's an excellent player, I guess I don't understand the career move. It's certainly a positive for Chelsea, he provides high quality depth.

You sign the best players you can. If a GK of Begovic's quality is willing to come start cup games, you don't argue with that.

I'm getting aggravated no money is being spent. There's close to 150 million just sitting there.

Yea it really is mind blowing, we aren't even really being rumored for anything which is unheard of in transfer season. It just makes no sense with a couple of very glaring weaknesses.

Before the window is over I'd like to have announced Begovic, brought in Rudiger, and have made at least one major signing. I also don't want anybody sold.

Would love to get Pedro if the release clause really is only 21.5 million.

I agree, its pretty mind boggling. But don't complain. You just got yourself an incredible backup. Will work wonders for the League and FA games where Court needs a rest. I think this really helps your chances in the domestic cup competitions.

Does a goalie really ever "need" a rest?

I said it in the transfer thread but Pedro really is the type of player we need, though I really don't want him.

Pedro would not be our normal signing given his age (almost 28), but he would fill a need. Even if he isn't a regular starter, he would give tons of quality minutes and tremendous quality depth.

I am still keeping hope for Cuadrado...he played with some passion at the end of the season. I thought he had a nice game at the end until he got injured.

Anyone following the Fiorentina madness? They are now demanding RLC for a loan spell rather than the 4 million euro penalty they originally requested. We will never loan someone there again.

U.S. Tour Squad List. Copa America guys join on the 22nd.

quote:

Thibaut Courtois, Asmir Begovic, Jamal Blackman, Cesar Azpilicueta, Branislav Ivanovic, Ola Aina, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Kurt Zouma, Jake Clarke-Salter, Nemanja Matic, John Mikel Obi, Nathaniel Chalobah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ramires, Cesc Fabregas, Oscar, Eden Hazard, Bertrand Traore, Victor Moses, Loic Remy, Diego Costa and Dominic Solanke.

Marca is reporting Atletico will announce Filipe Luis returning next week despite him saying he's not looking to leave on several occasions. They never stop trying to make this move happen.

Some guys are vastly overpaid or Hazard needs a pay increase. The fact that Hazard and Filipe Luis are only 4 million pounds apart is dumb.

Also, Luis making 2x more than Dave and Ivon is stupid.

There may be some transfer fee stuff being rolled into these numbers that makes it more complicated than just wages.

Everton rejected a bid of 20 mil for John Stones

quote:

Everton have rejected a £20m bid from Chelsea for John Stones, Sky sources understand.

quote:

The young defender helped Everton reach this weekend's Barclays Asia Trophy final after playing in Thursday’s penalty shoot-out win against Stoke and he expressed his contentment at the club following the game. He said: "I am very happy at Everton. My aim right now is to try to nail down a regular spot in this Everton team and hopefully that will take care of playing for England. "I have to keep learning from the likes of Phil Jagielka and keep progressing at this club."
