Alonso reportedly on his way to London, physical may start tonight per Sky Sports.

Uhhhh....out of nowhere Sky reporting £30M bid for David Luiz who is interested in a return. Negotiations ongoing.

As much as id love to see him back, this story reeks of smokescreen, trying to get some leverage on another CB.
Kinda hope its legit tho.

I loved having Luiz at the club. Don't think he's the greatest CB, but you could do a lot worse. Just disappointed we could probably pay 15 million more for somebody and have them around for 8-10 years. Luiz is a short term investment at this point.

IT'S HAPPENING
Transfer window ended up being pretty solid.

I don't like the Luiz move.

I don't love it but he gives us solid depth there. He can also play DM if Matic starts sucking.
I prefer Zouma over Luiz as the starter when he is healthy.
We finally have some depth in the back. I even feel good about Bran playing CB so the Alonso move makes Bran more valuable to the club.
Does JT start seeing the bench more this year?

I've given up on that dream long ago.

ya, its frankly some truly retarded business, and completely indicative of all the boards shortcomings in regards to team management and player acquisition.
that said, im super stoked. Luiz is true blue, a great teammate, and, to me, a clear upgrade over Cahill. hopefully Conte can get some more stability out of his play. we've been pretty weak on set-pieces since the tail end of the title season, and Luiz also can play on either side, so when Zouma is fit he can slot over for JT, which is pretty athletic pairing.
still think Luiz is a better player, right now, than Stones. and if the club is hot on Christensen and Zouma, then frick it.
really, the only question is whether or not Cesc is going to be a dick about the 4 shirt.

I have always liked david luiz. Teammates love his spirit and I think Conte is relly bringing Chelsea back together after everything that fell apart last season. If willian isn't in, Luiz is also a fantastic free kick specialist.
His wiki already has him at Chelsea

He would probably hit one of those every game if he were played in the midfield.

Luiz/Kante midfield would be a better wall than the wall in GoT.

It's not really a great loan spot for him IMO. I'm still super mad Chelsea bought him
re: Chelsea 16/17 Season Long Thread | Farewell JT EditionPosted by cigsmcgee on 8/31/16 at 6:05 pm to jackwoods4
eh, it could work out for him eventually if he plays well on loan and another team takes a liking. getting over into the english system is still a positive move, and its up to him to take advantage. he can always force a move back to MLS in a year of two if he flames out.
The pairing of Luiz and Kante is STOUT.
If we can then put Zouma/JT/Bran pairing at CB then we are very strong up the middle. I need to watch some Alonso film but I am assuming that LB and RB are locked up with him and Dave.
