Liposarcoma can occur in almost any part of the body, but more than half of liposarcoma cases involve the thigh, and up to a third involve the abdominal cavity.”

He decided to get in a car with a drunk driver. Not really luck.

Dude. Who of us hasn't done that? I know I have many times. Granted, I was much younger the last time I remember being in a vehicle with someone who was noticeably drunk or high or whatever. He was 24 or 25 when the accident happened. We all did stupid shite when we were that age.

Anyway, sucks for CD9. I feel bad for him. I remember following his progress after the accident hoping he would have a shot at the 2010 WC. This board basically turned into the Charlie Davies rehab board. So many threads linking articles about how miraculous the recovery process was going for him, etc. Looking back, we were very naive (optimistic?) to think he could overcome those injuries. Especially the leg injuries. He at least was able to carve out a decent MLS career after the accident. It sucks for the guy though, he could've been a really good player.

Play with fire, you may get burned

I can't feel bad for someone who got in a car with someone intoxicated. They had a choice.

I think you're just saying that because you think it makes you sound mature or something, but whatever, I'll bite.

There's this thing called empathy. People make mistakes. I bet you've made much worse ones that didn't end up virtually ending your career and nearly killing you.

And this one is called perspective. You don't have to agree with drunk driving in order to feel bad for Charlie Davies because he chose to get in a car with a drunk driver.

Anyway, here's some highlights of the old CD9.

CD9/Jozy

Hammarby & Sochaux

Mexico Goal

Re-watching that Mexico goal gave me chills big time. Who made that pass to put him through there? I couldn't tell, the video is grainy.

I feel ya, but getting into a car with a drunk driver you can only blame yourself. I got in a wreck one time and the driver had been drinking, luckily it was with a parked car and no one got seriously injured. Gotta make you're own luck sometimes, especially with the career he had ahead of him.

I don't think he would have consciously got in that car if he knew they were gonna go down GW Parkway. That road is scary as frick even when sober. At least that's what I tell myself.

I met Charlie once in 2011, after my second knee injury. He was really encouraging when I told him it probably meant I was done with soccer. Hate to hear this about him - some people just have shite luck all around.

Not playing moral high horse about his cancer. But seriously he was breaking curfew and drove home with a rando drunk chick instead of taking a cab. I really wish he had just paid for the cab.
