Beckerman has worked his balls off and played really well so far, but I have a bad feeling about him going up against Belgium's midfield of Witsel and Fellaini. I could see him getting smothered by Fellaini, especially with where Wilmots has played him further up the field. I wouldn't mind Jurgen sitting Beckerman for this one and going with Cameron, Bradley and Jones in the midfield. Gonzo and Cameron on the field at the same time would really help out defending Belgium's size.

Beckerman is a better CDM than Cameron.

You are on a roll today

first thinking Green can step in for Jozy now this.

Cameron is probably our most versatile player and hes playing CB is due to our lack of depth.

Beckerman has arguably been our most solid player this tournament. He's anchoring the midfield very well.

Despite his good play vs. Germany, Gonzo's lack of positional awareness is extremely concerning. I'm much more comfortable with Cameron and Besler staying in the middle.

Never said that.

No shite. He plays multiple positions, CDM being one of them.

Did you watch the Germany game? He didn't play. Another centerback did, his name is Omar Gonzalez. He played pretty well.

I was just saying that having Omar and Cameron on the field at the same time could help out against the type of central midfielders that Belgium field.

yet holding midfield is our strongest position on the field no need to play him there.

Yes I watched it. Gonzo made some good last ditch effort tackles b/c he got beat for multiple reasons. He's in lala land most the time

Pair them in the back together if anything not throw Cameron in the midfield .

Well we're obviously not taking Besler out. Do you mean Cameron at RB?

I wouldn't thats why I said if anything

Beasler and Cameron together is what needs to happen and what will happen. Not Cameron in the midfield and Gonzo back there

I will say that Cameron really impressed me when he played at CDM a while back. He looked like a completely different player. (can't remember if it was a string of friendlies or the gold cup or qualification)

Does not equal Ghana, Portugal, and Germany.

Beckerman has shown more than enough to hold his starting spot down.

yea, saying getting cameron on the field is one thing. saying he should play rather than one of our other CM's is another.
Our center mids have been outstanding, im not sure why people are wanting to change that. The other day someone wanted to move MB to that cdm role and take Jones or KB out.

I've literally never seen you post here. Or maybe you just don't stand out enough to be noticed.

Because squad rotation is something that coaches do, if you guys haven't noticed. Beckerman has been great, which I said in the first sentence of this thread. But let's not go overboard here. It's Kyle fricking Beckerman. He plays for Real fricking Salt Lake. I'm one of his biggest fans and he has stepped up big time the past couple of years, but he's about as average as average gets. Belgium has some powerhouse midfielders and forwards in that squad. Real athletes. Lukaku, Hazard, Fellaini, Dembele, Witsel, Mirallas, I could go on. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to introduce some fresh legs in that midfield for 55 or 60 minutes. Hell, maybe sit Jones for a half. I was just thinking of possibilities. Do you guys not remember how well Cameron and Bradley played together?I think I even remember Bradley openly saying how much he enjoyed playing next to him.

Better to stay silent and let them think you're an idiot than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

In the middle of a world cup with arguable the 2 most consistent and in best form field players on your team. Not so much.

Real athletes

And Ghana, Portugal, and Germany didn't

overall:
Germany midfielders > Belgium

Real athletes/ power house midfielders:
Ghana > Belgium

Now this isn't a horrible idea, but prbly should have been mentioned prior.

This is Nothing against Cameron as he is a good player. Most just don't change up a good thing.
