@OfficialBWFC: Following a scan the club can announce that Stuart Holden has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. #BWFC

Awful news.

Looking at least a nine-month recovery, from what I'm seeing on Twitter.

Is it the same knee he had injured earlier?

Well, given what we know of him, he will eventually make the best of this.

According to Twitter it's his right knee, so yes.

He'll be back before 9 if he doesn't have terrible cartilage damage. I was back in 4 months at 90% strength. Albeit very one footed, but still playing in games. He could be back training in 6 or earlier.

If he tore his right knee earlier, the above statement obviously won't apply.

Yeah depending on the severity, he could be back running by Christmas. But his playing form is going to be an issue. It usually takes players about as long as they were out before they return to their top form. Supremely frustrating for him.

I'm afraid it's the same knee:

This is the original injury to his right knee.

And the USMNT article says he injured his right knee. So it's the worst possible outcome. Can't feel sorry enough for Stu bear.

That sucks dick. They'll probably have to work on the other leg too to get some donor material to do the surgery on the right with.

I can't imagine he was celebrating with the team last night. They did the ACL test on the sideline, and it's nearly 100% correct when conducted by someone who is well trained. It was virtual certainty last night. He's got to be tough as shite (mentally) to be able to keep coming back from these injuries.
