I've heard arguments both ways on this. Who's right? The most compelling argument I've heard was against blade cleats because they stay put while the body pivots, while stud cleats allow the pivot movement. I've also heard arguments against the stud cleats, because they grip the ground too much and plant the foot too abruptly when stopping.

I've heard both ways. My kid's 9, and plays forward/midfield in Arizona. Pretty hard soil. What say you, o gurus of the futebol board?

Crescent city soccer advises studs but that's for a synthetic pitch. I still play on it with blades and it's not a problem.

Your kid is nine. He has a low center of gravity and his joints are still flexible. He'll be fine.

Hard soil. Multi stud. No aluminium, in case anyone erroneously tries to sell you that. Your boy needs polymer multi stud.

Hard soil could give him plantar faciatis. Get him out of the cleats when he is off the pitch.

the frick is this? Are you a soccer mummy? Common fricking sense says the following

Real turf, aluminium
All else, multi stud

´Tis very simple.

Blades. Used all my life and never had an injury.

I've used both and haven't had any injury because of my cleats.

I haven´t seen this, you´d probably have to pull a pair of boots from a 70´s garage sale. I´ve only seen insertable and fixed studs, aluminium, or some type of polymer. Fixed, normally polymer, aluminium can be switched in or out, and you can buy the desired height. Normally, you´re going to have two different stud types-shapes-sizes, four of one, two of another.

Unless you're playing on EPL caliber fields, I'd guess it's far more likely that a field imperfection will cause an injury than the "wrong" cleat style will.

To sort out the confusion...

Traditional Cleat:

Blade:

Turf:

Soft Ground:

Have one of both. for most part cannot tell the difference.

FWIW, tore my acl while wearing blades but it had nothing to do with cleats

Vapors are blades.

I would only use aluminum when the fields are soft. Never on crap pitches like independence, burbank, etc.

Playing with aluminums on indy WILL make your feet sore for days

Studs on soft ground cleats are frequently aluminum

I can´t believe people are going on about this. Is it scientifically proven that these ´taco´cuts are different than traditional ´tacos´? No fricking way, it´s a marketing ploy based on a perceived aestethicism. People have been playing with both for years, and have never made comments about either´s proclivity to cause injury, in comparison to the other.

I'm talking plastic blades like Nike Mercurial or Puma... NOT baseball-type cleats.

I have used both and have not noticed a difference. Overall comfort, type of material, and weight of the cleat are the 3 things I always look for.

I spent about five minutes searching. There doesn't seem to be any significant difference between the two

No need to get jimmies rustled, I was just stating that vapors were "blade" boots. You said you haven't seen them since the 70s.

If those arent blade cleats, then what are?

Edit: I don't really know what you were trying to say with that reply, but I'm just going to go with it
