The headquarters building features offices, an indoor-outdoor gym, locker room, and dining area, within 30,000 square feet. With work underway, the $60-million facility should be ready a year from now.

The training ground will hold open training sessions and tournaments, as well as host visiting national and international clubs. Designed by Atlanta-based architecture firm TVS Design, it will be home to the club’s youth academy, first team players and club staff.

The design of the site and club headquarters allows for future growth and will foster an aspirational environment, giving the academy players the opportunity to observe and interact with the first team.

“Youth development will play a critical role in the overall success of our club,” said Atlanta United president Darren Eales. “We put a lot of thought into the design of the training ground to ensure that it provided our first team with a top-flight training environment, as well as an open, collaborative and aspirational atmosphere for our young academy players.”

Crafting partnerships with leading area youth clubs, ATL UTD are already getting their youth academy off the ground and the new complex is designed to guide and groom youth prospects towards their eventual goal of a professional career. Each Under-18 player will be mentored by a member of the first team, a system that will be replicated from top to bottom through the academy.

“We want the kids to get glimpses of their first-team heroes,” Eales said. “We want everyone to prepare to be professionals. It’s about getting academy players to the first team and the matches.”
