Wilshere picked up an assist today for the U21s.

Amazing.

The home stretch of a season when all the top contenders faltered and we're in our usual position--a bit of a suspenseful situation to hold on to top four.

The only reason I care about top 4 is that it may help us attract signings, but I have little optimism we will sign anyone big.

I'm resigned to the fact that we will be 3/4 and out of CL in the round of 16 until Wenger leaves.

We leave him hanging out to dry at times and I think overall he's netted us at least nine points this season.

But throwing those two points away was on Petr.

Can't help but cringe when they say Arsenal is the only club to not buy an outfield player in the summer.

That was pretty poor from Cech but to blame the dropped points on him seems a bit crazy. Arsenal dropped points because they are spineless and are so predictable. The blueprint for lesser teams to beat Arsenal is pretty easy to follow.

On paper Arsenal have a great squad that should challenge for the PL and in Europe but the winning mentality is nonexistent.

We have to be in the bottom half of the table since the New Year. Have to be.

What a miserable cycle this has become. Someone email me when Arsene leaves.

I believe Arsenal are about 12th in the table sine Boxing Day.

I've been on Arsene's arse, he has a lot of say in what happens, but the real problem is kroenke. He's not going to make a change, and even if he does I have zero faith in finding someone to move the club forward and stop struggling to get 4th place every fricking season.

He is so good, but again took 3 years to realize his best spot on the team was playing central instead of out on the left.

Always too little too late for Arsene the past 12 years now.

If I were Joel Campbell and I watched Theo Walcott go on instead of me every match, I'd kick Arsene in the nuts and demand to be sold.

Cazorla played centrally in 2012 and was frankly amazing there. The only reason he moved left was because of Ozil. I think everyone in the world is surprised that a 5'5 technical magician can play that deep.

I can barely watch this team anymore. The that had balance was the one with Walcott at striker and Ramsey at RW. This team currently has nothing resembling that balance.

For the great posters in this thread's sake I REALLY hope you guys do the unthinkable and drop points to Sunderland next week further pushing that softy put the door and allowing your fine club to realize it's full potential as Champions in the near future.

Yea it is the same thing every year. Even if we do sign some players this summer what's stopping us from underachieving? As long as Wenger is here we will continue to falter. I'm burnt out on watching us throw away leads every week.

frick the rest of this season. What do you guys want/expect for the summer?

OUT
Flamini
Rosicky
Arteta
Theo
Gibbs

IN
Xhaka (too much smoke for no fire)
Lukaku
Mahrez
LB of choice
Naby Keita (can play 6, 8, or 10. The next Kante)
Zelalem into first team
Bring back Jenko?

Next year's team

GK: Cech. Ospina.

RB: Bellerin. Jenkinson. Chambers.
RCB: Gabriel. Per.
LCB: Kosc. Chambers.
LB: Monreal. LB buy.

DM: Xhaka. Keita. Coq/Elneny.
B2B: Keita/Jack/Aaron/Elneny/Santi.
AM: Ozil. Jack/Santi/Aaron/Keita

CF: Lukaku. Welbeck. Giroud.
RW: Mahrez. Ox. Welbeck. Ramsey.
LW: Alexis. Iwob/Welbeck

Specific thoughts: Seems like Rosicky/Gibbs/Arteta/Flamini are all on the way out. Theo needs to be sold. He's utterly useless at this point and too expensive. City might snap him up.

Ox gets one more year to make his case, but I wouldn't cry if he were sold off this offseason while he still may have some value.

Wouldn't mind another CB but I feel like we'll keep Per as cover and move forward with Gabriel/Kosc before turning it over to Gabriel/Chambers. Chambers should play the Gabriel role next year, covering for injuries. Per should be fourth choice, depth and experience, nothing more.

This is obviously hugely optimistic. We'll probably buy Xhaka and that's it.

What's the point of this? Arsene isn't going to buy anyone, at least not like he should. It's just an exercise in futility at this point. Our players returning from injury are new signings. Zelalem is getting promoted to the first team. I'm not sure about letting Gibbs go. I'm on the fence about Theo but his wages are way too high.

I'm bored and soccer-depressed. I'd rather speculate about impossibilities than consider the present day reality of Arsenal.

I want Theo gone just so he doesn't entice Arsene to play him the last 10 minutes of a game when we need a goal. He's not good enough to be a starting center forward, and he is useless on the wing.

As for who we bring in, I'd really like Lukaku, but I assume every club in the world would as well. I think he is the combination of everything we have in Welbeck and Giroud combined into one player.

But, like everyone else in here, I assume we'll sign one notable player whose name only gets bigger because it is mentioned so much in the tabloids while the transfer drags out. Then we will get a couple of youth players. In the end, all of us will get excited for the season because Santi and Jack will be back. Also, Zelalem will score against the MLS all-stars.

Perhaps typing this while Spurs gain 2 pts on us over the weekend is not helping the mood of the post.

What's truly depressing is that Spurs have become a more fun team to watch than Arsenal. Maybe it's just because Arsenal causes me so much anguish and Spurs can actually attack and defend, two things we've struggled to do consistently this year.

Sunday was a microcosm of this. We have the lead, Palace has done virtually nothing all game, but we lacked the skill in front of goal to kill the game off and the pragmatism to squeeze the life out of them.

That Bolasie shot will give me nightmares. It seemed like 10 seconds passed as he got nearer and nearer to the semi circle of the penalty box without anyone closing him down.
