Here is a depressing article about our CL performances, if you have time to wallow in our defeat and self-hate some more.

LINK

quote:

"The trouble with making the same type of mistakes repetitively over 18 years and 177 games is that it becomes unacceptable that Arsenal seem unable to learn. To change. To adapt. To try to do things differently. With that much experience of Champions League football, and with – on the whole – pretty good players for this level at their disposal, it reveals a very deep-rooted problem to know all about the banana skin in front of you and still go flying. That 177 is an admirable number in a way, reflecting consistency few others match in terms of Champions League qualification, but in another way it is damning. All those games. Same old naivety."

This is one thing I don't get. Arsene has so much experience yet we line up so naive all the god damn time. Anderlecht, Monaco, Zagreb, Olympiakos. We play below ourselves. Players play flat and unmotivated, the lineups are questionable at times, and it takes going down a goal or two to play with any kind of intensity. It's the freaking CL. Why don't we play like it? I think naive is a good word to describe it though, but when you are naive year after year, when does the correct word become stupidity? (or insanity, to quote Einstein or whoever)

It's Wenger. Love him, and we can win another Prem title with him. We will never win CL with him. It's a naivety, stubbornness, and innate characteristic in him that manifests itself in the team.

When he said we gave up three goals on four shots vs. Olympiakos, and that was just 'bad luck' and happens 1 in 100 CL matches, I nearly did a spit take. Lack of accountability.

I'm sick of the same old shite year in and year out. I feel like smaller clubs aren't afraid to play us ... especially since they know we've had our big upsets in the past.

The formula is simple. Sit deep, counter/set piece. If you score the first goal against us, you're set.

The Prem will be a dogfight this year. We showed from January on last year we could have a title winning run. The only team I really feel is above us is City and they have holes too. The EPL has a ton of parity this year. A lot of teams are going to drop points. And Wenger is nothing but consistent in the EPL. I don't think we are the favorites by any means but we have a shot.

ETA: Oh. You're a Chelsea fan. You're distracting yourself from the racist, misogynistic, shite pile that is your club. Nevermind. Just read this instead.

A couple of interesting articles recently on Theo as a CF

LINK - Jonathan Wilson

LINK - Amy Lawrence

Also, Wenger lost his shite at a press conference yesterday when asked about accountability and the Mourinho comment on there being only one manager in the league who isn't under pressure.

ARRRRRRRSENAL FC!

Great, great, great game today. Could have been 5, 6-0 (or 1, incredible save by Cech).

Great performance. Walcott is much more of a threat than Giroud. Alexis is just a joy to watch. Really impressed with the clean sheet. Usually we let one in but we defended well today.

His assist to Alexis was very impressive. He controlled the ball well and was very calm in the box. Also, I don't know if it counted as an assist on the 3rd goal, but he found Alexis nicely by switching the field.
