How does RM decide who they are just going to let go?
He didn't play a ton down the stretch, had injuries throughout the season, and apparently not exactly perfect for zidane's formation.
Those are all reasons i've seen but if it was my club i sure as shite wouldnt want them to get rid of james.

Xhaka is in London finalizing the transfer. Link in the transfer thread.

Why would RM let him go two years after they let Ozil go to get James?
2 things
1. real loves splash signings. he was the splash signing they wanted and had to sell ozil to afford it
2. they were playing a great deal of 4-2-3-1 his first year and he was the central playmaker. now zidane is running more of a 4-3-3 and he wasn't allowed to basically sit up front and do what ozil does, and he pouted. zidane got pissed and didn't play him as much (isco, too..and they're somewhat redundant but isco fits better moving forward although they may move him).
just like with ozil, they want to make big moves this year and have to sell players to fund it. james is the main guy. rumors are ronaldo is on the block, too, but i will guarantee they put too big of a price tag on him. maybe PSG bites. they're building around bale and are targeting strikers (lukaku is a name i keep hearing)

He signed a year after Ozil. They had to sell Di Maria to get James.
The problem I have with their 3 man midfield at the moment is that Modric, Kroos, and Casemiro don't seem to want to make incisive passes. Isco's problem is that he dribbles too much. James could be the perfect foil for a 3 man midfield if he did the defensive work a 3 man midfield takes.
It's also interesting that Zidane employs no no.10 when he was the best no.10 in the world. I don't know if the 4-3-3 is a pragmatic decision as much as a stylistic one.

Thought I read that Roma wanted to loan him another year, but not buy him, which I'd be fine with. I think he's got a high ceiling, just has to sort out the mental stuff, if he can.
Roma just signed the young Brazilian GK Alisson so he seems to be the long term plan/investment.
Seems Roma want Szczesny on loan for one more season to compete with Alisson since he arrives late and will need to adjust etc.
Szczesny was pretty good for Roma this year. Made as many wonder saves as I've seen from a Roma keeper since Julio Sergio. Bailed us out numerous times on shots not too many GKs anywhere would keep out. However, he also made way too many simple errors of judgement, mainly on when to come out and get through balls or crosses.

Yeah he has a lot of natural talent and is a good shot stopper. It's his kicking and decision making that isn't all that great.

Gotta buy a CF, but I think we probably don't buy a winger. If we do, I'd love James, as would just about any other club in the world.
Who plays on the wing? Iwobi and Sanchez? Then who? Your center mids Ramsey and wilshere? Even though Ramsey looked best out on the rt at the beginning of the season.
I don't think k I can take another season of Walcott and Chamberlain. Neither are good enough. And apparently Campbell isn't either since Wenger refuses to play him.

I don't think a winger is out of the question. But I also think it's very possible we go into next season with chamberlain, Iwobi, Sanchez, as our three actual wingers. And Wilshere and Ramsey have both been effective there in the past and Wenger has shown he likes them there. Also could see Adelaide getting some first team action out there.
That being said if we sell Walcott my money would be on Arsenal getting a replacement

Id guess we play Ramsey/Jack on the right with Ox Iwobi and Walcott as depth. Just don't think Wenger sells Walcott.

I think Walcott becomes more useful with Xhaha pinging the ball over the top wide. Ramsey too.
This buy really gives a lot of interesting options next season because I could see him playing next to any of Santi, Elneny, Coq, Ramsey, or even Wilshere.

Kinda. They could have bought Bale without selling Ozil but Ozil wasn't going to stay in a system like Ancelott's which pushed him out wide and made him an ineffective winger.

Having James feeding through balls to the forward runners with a destroyer in Casemiro or two very good ball-playing DLP's in Modric and Kroos behind him seems to work just as well as having Modric, Kroos, and Casemiro together in my opinion.
Regardless, I'd take any Barcelona or Real Madrid castoffs in a heartbeat.

Well Walcott at the beginning of the season created loads of space for Ozil, which was when he was most effective. His post-injury form was terrible.
Ox should move to a central position and compete there, because his final ball and decision making isn't up to par, but he could be a fantastic runner from midfield.
I don't want to sell them, because they are English and we will have to fill their roster spots with homegrown talents to make sure we meet the quota.
Posted on 5/20/16 at 6:11 pm to crazy4lsu
I still think the Ox could use a loan

ESPN saying Leicester could take Ox and we would go after Mane. I would be more than fine with that
