I think it's just DVTG and her alter Aaron Ramsey.

we're still seriously arguing whether Suarez would be worth it? shite.

he'd miss five league matches this year (League Cup match would be #6). the idea that we shouldn't buy him because of five missed matches is ridiculous. he'd help us immensely this year in all competitions.

the players want big signings. they want to win. it'd have a negative effect if we did nothing, not if we bought Suarez.

he's a perfect fit, in this market £55m isn't unreasonable. we have a ridiculous amount of cash in our reserves and have cleared out our wage bill.

the only potentially top striker available (outside Rooney and Suarez, though both's availability is questionable) is Jackson Martinez, but who knows if he's actually the real deal after one year in Portugal (and probably isn't even available).

I'd rather spend 55m on Suarez than 25-35m on a less than sure bet. the extra 15m you think Suarez isn't worth probably doesn't factor in increased revenues from shirt sales, exhibition revenues, tv revenues for doing better in competitions, etc. that money does us no good sitting in the bank collecting marginal interest while also being taxed heavily.

Exactly. If its liquid then there is no reason it shouldn't be spent. That liquidity helps keeps prices down since we can pay immediately, but cash reserves of that much do us very little good.

That's what makes the SB better than the rest of this website. We actually give a damn about each other.

I'll ehug the pain away at Finn's.

We have plenty of money and Suarez is the best player available. We won't pay the 50mm so it is kind of moot. I wish we would though. Time to step up and be seen as a force in the transfer market.

All of what you just said

I know there are folks who feel that we need to focus our spending on defense, but seeing that Sagna is open to a permanent move to a central role makes me feel more comfortable there. And yes, that paves the way for Jenkinson to start, which many on this board seem to support.

yeah, I'm in the minority here, but Sagna should get the bulk of PT at RB.

I really don't get the "wait until next year" approach some argued for earlier. you do realize every top striker has moved this summer (counting Lewa too since he's practically moved)? those guys, even if they hate their new clubs, aren't going to be dealt after one season. wait and see is a terrible approach, especially when some bad injury luck could drop us out of the top four.

Yep and the inflated prices following a World Cup makes now the time to buy.

the way Mikel was talking yesterday, the players are anticipating big signings. we'll leave it late, but we'll get a couple.

If we buy Suarez at the deadline do the games already played figure into his suspension? I'm sure they do.

Santi seems to be the most liked player if ever seen.

Except for Aaron Ramsey, DVTG loves him.

Santi certainly isn't the best player I've ever watched, but he is the most fun. he's the most aesthetically pleasing player I've ever watched.

He is so good in tight spaces, I love watching him. That stat mentioned in the article about 30 through balls really tells the tale of his influence on almost every match he plays.

I completely agree. I also think his fun personality makes him more enjoyable to watch.

I think after we got Per it was necessary to buy an aesthetically pleasing player to counter his giraffeness. Love 'em both.
