Good read on SI. Brings up some great points, mainly the lack of concentration in defense. For all the talk about Steve Bould early, our back line has been even more error prone this season.

I hope that 70Mill Wenger supposedly has at his disposal this Summer goes toward a Center Back, Defensive Mid, and who knows possibly even a Keeper. I'm in the boat of wanting a more vocal, and commanding/vet Keeper. Arsenal also could use another goal scoring threat, more creative player but we 70Mill wont cover all the above plus that.

With that they could get very competent upgrades at CB/DM. Or they could just spend all of that money on 2 top class players.

I have a feeling Per will be shipped out in the summer. Solid player but not a good fit for us.

Are fans at the emirates usually rough? All my twitter peeps at the game said it was quite hostile/semi-unsafe, apparently extra security was needed to protect the bayern supporters

And I think we have greater needs to fill than keeper. I don't know of many keepers that would be an upgrade over Szczensy that we have a shot at getting in our budget.

I would prefer to do some revamping in the defensive end over a keeper. The best keepers usually have great defenses in front of them. I think a legit defensive mid and a quality centerback/left back is something we desperately need

Yeah probably. His contract ends after next season. Like I said earlier, it seems most likely, if things go poorly, that he'll "retire" when his contract ends. Even if things go well he might decide to hang up his huge coat.

Next season will be huge. Unless Kroenke and the board are in it to extract maximum wealth from the fans (possible), we will spend quite a bit in the offseason. And this will be the first offseason in awhile where sales *should* only be of dead weight players. Obviously, if we can pass Spurs or Chelsea and make the CL that would give us more ££££ to spend. If we don't, we will likely have to hold some in reserve.

Sidenote, I bet Beast we'd spend at least £60m over the Jan 2013 and Summer 2013 window (I say bet even though there were no stakes ) He generally thinks I'm crazy so hopefully it'll happen so I can gain some credibility.

He and Anthony Stokes (more so Stokes) were the first two Arsenal youth players I fell in love with. I thought Stokes was so awesome because he was dominating the SPL as a teenager. Little did I know at the time this meant nothing.

I had high hopes for Henri Lansbury after he helped Norwich to promotion. My bruvs from Norwich were raving about him.

They also raved about Wes Hoolahan, so there's that.

Is him having the "70 mil" contingent on them making CL money?

I wonder how much that year he lost to illness affected his development...

And Randy, we've got much more than £70m sitting in the bank but a certain amount must be kept for loan purposes. Who knows how much Kroenke will pocket. Not sure where anyone gets that £70m figure. According to a reliable season ticket holder/AST member, we'll release our profits next week showing £180m+ in the bank of which ~£100m can be spent. The £70m number just seems to be £100m-£30m (champions league payout).

Did Sagna ever sign an extension to his contract? I know Left Back is a weak area for us but this has been a pretty shitty season for Sagna, plus he's getting fairly old.

No he hasn't. And he won't. He'll be sold in the summer and should be able to get us a decent fee. We'll buy another RB for competition with Jenkinson. With unknown RB/Jenkinson and Gibbs/Monreal, we should be set for awhile at the full back position going forward.

Sagna was really disappointing last night. For someone that has been so consistent for us over the years, he was really a weak spot. He was outclassed out there. Bayern were better all over the field, but the fullback position was probably the most evident. Sagna couldn't go anywhere when he tried and Verm didn't even try (can't really blame him due to being a CB). Gibbs was sorely missed.

It may look like Arsenal selling another key player, but I agree with you that it is time to sell him before he falls off even more. I really like Jenkinson.

Jenkinson should've been playing this whole season honestly. Or at the very least the last month or so over sagnas current form

I disagree. He was fine yesterday, particularly defensively. Ribery had to go to the other side to get any joy. Ribery probably would've eaten Jenkinson alive. Sagna did fine linking up attacking play. I don't think it's a huge negative that he couldn't blitz past Ribery or Alaba. Plus, he didn't put in stupid crosses with only Theo in the middle. He played smart, if conservative, attacking football yesterday. Jenkinson wouldn't have done any better defensively and likely could have been pressured into some costly mistakes giving the ball away.
