It happens to the best of them. Look at your boy Depay. Newcastle was a dumpster fire, I can't really blame him for being lackadaisical (although that doesn't excuse his demeanor).

Depay is an immature kid at times

Not a bad buy for Liverpool but 25 million was way to much

I think Wij may be as well. Klopp will remedy that or he'll be riding pine before he can blink.

'm sorry. I don't see the transfer brilliance with Dortmund. They certainly made the most of a bad situation (Hummels stabbing them in the back and Mkhitaryan refusing to sign). I don't think I'd call their window an overwhelming success when they lost a guy who could've become a club legend to the team keeping them from winning the title. They also lost their most productive player going forward (apart from perhaps Auba) because he wouldn't sign a new deal. They're making the most of a bad situation, but I just can't call it a super successful window when some of your best players continue to leave your club.

I tend to agree.

They've made what are likely some very good purchases. Gotze will likely be good right away and there's a lot of very talented younger players of which you can bet some will be fantastic.

(I'm not really that crazy about Shurrle or Bartra but they're certainly not bad players either.)

However, I'm not sure Dortmund are "killing it". They're simply doing what the better non-superpower clubs like Roma, Napoli, Sevilla et al etc have been able to do almost every summer recently:

lose a few real difference makers but keep some great young players coming in.

It ultimately means that these clubs stay just as good after losing star players and maybe even get better but only after a half a season or more for all the young players adjust and "get their feet".

However, it also means clubs like Dortmund, Roma, Napoli, Sevilla, Valencia ect improve in baby steps whereas Bayern, Juve among three others are taking the giant steps and building rosters that are now almost three deep with players that would start for most "competitors".

However, as long as there is FFP (Financial Fair Play), this is the new "glass ceiling".

Apparently the Palace bid for Berahino was matched by Stoke and both were rejected.

Which move for a big EPL club do you think has been fairly priced this window? I think your view of the market may need some adjusting, like a lot of people did in this round of NBA free agency.

Both Mkhitaryan and Gündogan seem reasonable

Sky Sport Italia reporting Higuain is set for a medical at Juve after Juve agreed to pay his 94.7M Euro release clause. If true, I expect the Pogba deal is done

Eurosport claiming Arsenal are "imminently" set to close a 50M Euro deal for Mahrez.

for being so smart holding out for an utterly insane fee for pogba, spending that money on higauin is just retarded. this reminds me of the torres/carroll "swap" a few years back

let me be clear. i'm not laughing at 'pool b/c the 2 prices were linked somewhat

it just seems similar that juve is like "We're about to have a lot of money, SPEND IT ALL ON ONE GUY!" kind of like what 'pool seemed to do in that window. that's why i called it a "swap" of sorts

i'm really curious what Real is doing (and funny enough, how you'd react)

they almost seem like a "selling" club this window. morata may be sold (to your chelsea), kroos may be sold, jesse may be loaned out, benzema and james are both likely out, as well

they've struck out with pogba and gomes, too

they are potentially going to have a massive, and i mean MASSIVE war chest but i don't see who they can go after. if they sell kroos, morata, james, and benzema they may get around 250M+ euros

I saw this stat that Liverpool in the last five or six years has spent £250 million or close to it only on players from Sunderland, Newcastle, Southampton and Aston Villa.
