Landycakes FC Week 1 Roster
GK Lukasz Fabianski (Swansea City)
DEF Jose Fonte (Southampton)
DEF Chris Smalling (Manchester United)
DEF Vincent Kompany (Manchester City)
DEF Ashley Williams (Swansea City)
MID Christian Eriksen (Tottenham Hotspur) VC
MID Dusan Tadic (Southampton)
MID Chris Brunt (West Brom)
MID Sebastian Larsson (Sunderland)
FWD Olivier Giroud (Arsenal) C
FWD Danny Ings (Liverpool)
Subs (that literally do not matter):
GK Julian Speroni (Crystal Palace)
1. FWD Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool)
2. MID Angel Di Maria (Manchester United)
3. FWD Edin Dzeko
Lukasz Fabianski was the top GK last season. Will he repeat? Probably not, but I expect him to compete for a top five score and finish with 20 points of the top keeper.
I absolutely love my defense. While War was high on Kieran Trippier, I think Chris Smalling will be the man this year and finish as a top three DEF. He took off in the second half from a fantasy perspective. Look for a 150 point season. Fonte's ability to repeat 2014-2015 is the big question, but I trust Southampton after their great fantasy year last season. Kompany was well worth the risk in round 11. A proven fantasy vet like Ashley Williams should not have been available at 13.9. He has 100+ points in four straight seasons.
Eriksen and Dusan Tadic should be a solid, but unspectacular midfield pairing. I think Chris Brunt is underrated in fantasy. I know I was the only somewhat unaware of Di Maria's standing, but I had to take a chance on world class talent.
Even though Sturridge is made of glass, I will take the chance at 3.9. I almost considered taking Sturridge 12th overall because he is one of a select that could score 200 in a full season.
Bottom line: Everyone likes their own team, but I definitely believe I am much better than last year. I am certainly excited about Pedro coming to the Premier League. Despite drafting mostly from my phone without any research, I think I have a good team even if the Di Maria and Dzeko picks look foolish.

Vicks - thanks for doing these - interesting to see someones thoughts.
So, Pantillimon was pretty good once Dick Advocaat took over, and I assumed a continued hard working defensive posture to start the season. He got a 123 points last year playing 2/3 of the year. I figured by the time Sunderland replaced Dick with someone else in November, Foster would be back in a Tony Pulis defensive team. It was the thought, and it has not worked out well
Teammate defensive players could work big, but it looks like this is the year Terry won't play the whole freakin' season and that Ivanovic has finally been figured out a litle. I'm sure they'll settle in and get me some good points, but it doesn't looks like what it could/should have been - remember they have scored well for years, so last year was not an aberation.
Milner had an absurd amount of points the last time he played 3,000 minutes (184 points) and scored a few pre-season goals for Pool. If we start playing with a true 3 man central mid-field, I like his chances of getting a good bit of goals an assists.
Rooney seems to follow up a down year with a great year. It was a down year last year.
All in all, my biggest concern right now is that my risks involved guys on the later years of their career for the most part. Terry, Ivanovic and Rooney were my first three picks, and all three could end up subpar.
I think my biggest flaw last year was not doing much of anything in the weekly windows - my biggest regret being I hesitated picking up Giroud, ended up missing out of him, and really could have used him.

This may be the only team in the league with a goalie situation I do not feel good about. Sunderland will hemorrhage goals this season and Foster is out. Pantilimon finishing in the top 10 would be a success.

The goalie will not be a big deal because there is not that much of a gap between keepers in fantasy.
Terry and Ivanovic are just risky because it is a lot of points riding on a Chelsea clean sheet and you never know when age will catch Terry. Based on their points, they were great value picks. I would just fear weeks like the one against City.
No problem with Milner. I felt like you knew his usage better than I would. Agree on Rooney. I was hoping he fall to 9.
