Another problem with the government telling us what to eat: Their official guidelines have historically been terrible health advice (see the infamous food pyramid). If they force people to adopt a certain diet, we can be assured that the government diet will destroy people's health.

First, congrats on the new income. I'm sure you worked hard for it. Another idea is to aggressively lower your monthly expenses by paying off debt. If you are truly killing it income wise, there is no reason to have 10-15k of monthly expenses. If your paying off student loans that may take a ...

Thanks, I am considering this. We have only recently moved into the higher earner category so my first instinct is to keep doing things myself. Sorry if this has been covered. I searched other threads with the title "emergency fund" first.
If your monthly expenses are in the 10-15k range, is it really smart to have 6 to 12 months expenses sitting in cash? I guess it is foolproof, but it seems wrong to have 60-100+k sitting there slowly...
The GOP talks a big game about cutting 'entitlements' like SS/Medicare/Medicaid, but when it comes down to it they are afraid of committing political suicide. Instead they would rather make a lot of noise about the unsustainability of these programs when Democrats are in power.
Keep in mind also that our understanding of genetics is far from complete.
Just my gut feeling, but in the future I think we will make more discoveries that point out ways in which the genome can be modified at the germline level by environment. We are already seeing some of this in...

The way in which we go about making changes will always be important. Any changes that remove checks and balances can accelerate change, but years ...

Pray tell, how long exactly does the earth need to be not warming before it is not warming?
If I bump this in 5 years, and the earth still hasn't warmed, will it still be warming?
