re: Who is the greatest "action hero" of them all? - Sigma
I want a Predator sequel where Dutch comes back to train a new group of commandos lead by the Rock. I really want to see Dwayne start doing a couple of old school 80s style action flicks.
This is a great idea. I haven't been to a theatre in about a year but I would be in a seat o...
look on Allen Edmonds Shoe barn... its factory 2nds have great prices...
Thanks for the suggestions. I picked up a pair of Park Avenues from the Allen Edmonds shoe barn for $187. Technically factory seconds, but I can't see a thing wrong with them. Beats $385 for sure....
I strongly agree with your point about monogenic diseases. I feel like many in molecular biology forget that most traits are polygenic and the interactions between these loci are complex. I think the illumina next generation sequencing platforms are going to do a good job reducing said ignora...

As the oncogenesis rate continues to drop, as you point out, the risk of cancer may be worth the chance if you're effectively cured. In that sense maybe BLUE is a good bet. But what their doing is a little more cell therapy than gene therapy. Correct me if I'm wrong but it appears they are using...
Do you have any good literature on the relationship between gene insertion and genotoxity, I would like to think that this is a problem that can be overcome, if not by blue by others in my lifetime but I don't think you can compare blue to some of these other cases or it at least doesn't im...

re: New to the Forum, any other biotech guys on here???? - Sigma
BLUE's vector does seem to be an improvement but by nature it functions by insertion, and as such genotoxicity will always be a problem. I've seen it happen before, great early phase clinical data in small patient populations, then a tiny adverse event in phase 3 tanks the whole deal. Imagine BLUE c...

I see. In that case, the target is only half of the solution. The delivery system is equally important. It looks like CRISPR is maturing in the same pattern as gene therapy and RNAi. Start with viral vectors because any biologist can get those systems up and running. Then second generation non-v...

Dress shoes under $150 - Sigma
I love the Allen Edmonds oxfords, especially the Park Avenues. But I just can't justify >$300 for a pair considering my work environment. I'd like something of a similar style for <$150. Any recommendations?...
