re: LHSAA Playoffs - Semifinals. - meaux tigers
Yeah. Loose scrimmage kick breaking the plane of the EZ in high school federation rules is a touchback. Kick never ended, it was just muffed. Looks awkward but that's the right call. If it was caught and then fumbled its live. Kicking team's best scenario is to recover at that 1 in that situation. ...

re: Parkview vs. U-High - meaux tigers
"Catching a break" in reference to a live ball being stopped. It was just a likely TD had the kid realized it was live. I have no idea if it was a fumble or not, was way too far away to see that. I agree, more like a 7 point loss. Probably wouldn't have mattered. UH was on a roll on both sides of th...

re: Parkview vs. U-High - meaux tigers
That fumble was a big play in the game. However, the HL (not the SJ) immediately dropped his bean bag and 6 of the officials mirrored the PBS player with the ball. One official took the ball from that player when he stood with the ball. Had he let the play go, I think eventually PBS player would hav...

re: NFL Teams Refusing to go for 2 - meaux tigers
Again, if you did it all the time, I'd bet you are looking at more like 40/60 chance at best for each play. Even at 50/50 I don't call that a "high probability."...

re: NFL Teams Refusing to go for 2 - meaux tigers
Others have said this, but they are exactly right. Teams rep a handful 2 point plays until they get them down and coaches feel comfortable that they will succeed. They even have a spot on their call sheet for 2 point plays. That's how specialized of a play it is. The conversion rate would almost cer...

re: Catholic High's Clay Moffitt tears ACL again - meaux tigers
At 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, Moffitt looks like an ideal tight end. With good power and pretty good speed and footwork, he looks like a natural for football and has an LSU offer that isn’t just a feel-good bone thrown at the kid of a coach. “When I talked to coach Cameron, he emphasized to me that...

re: TM7 will remain at drug rehab center (in lieu of playing FB) for the near future - meaux tigers
I do know that the NCAA rule per eligibility back in 2006 was an athlete must pass 6 hours a semester to stay eligible and I think 24 for the year. Not 100% on the numbers, but there was a minimum to pass per semester and a total for the year. Therefore there is some opportunity to make up a bad fal...

re: QB Play: NOT the Major Problem w/the Offense (statistical support) - meaux tigers
[quote]This is true. Someone mentioned earlier, and I began to do it but decided it would take too much time, looking at 1st down stats and see what position we put our offense into. I think I have a better idea of how to do that now. What could be done is a little bit of research to see som...

OBU: I agree with most of your post. I just have a few problems with your assessment. Obviously the biggest problem with the O was lack of a running game. It was evident in your 3rd and short breakdown. I venture to guess the same would be true on all running downs. The offense is based on a...
