re: Carl Nicks and Bucs part ways. - bonethug0108
IF he was motivated to play hard, sure I would like him back. But the only reason he busted arse so much here was to get that fat contract. Most may not remember but Payton actually "benched" him at practice for his poor attitude and work ethic. I forget what year that was but he said he used it a...

More so the severity and recovery from the injuries than the injuries themselves. I didn't mean to imply he wasn't hurt at all though I see how it looks like that. And that trend followed again this year with him expected to be ready by training camp(I think they even said he shouldn't miss any o...

The Bucs have questioned his "injuries" from the beginning. The staph thing sucks and is obviously real but from all reports he was coming along a lot slower than he should have from all of his injuries. All indications say he Charles Granted it....

re: Carl Nicks and Bucs part ways. - bonethug0108
Not to mention the whole reason he left/we let him go is because we didn't trust giving him a big contract. We basically lowballed him not expecting him to stay. Looks like we made to right call. I don't think he wanted to play anyway. The staph just sealed the deal....

From what I've seen the kid is very ready. He's smart and picks things up quick, knows the routes and how to run them, has excellent hands, and is physically ready. If he keeps working on his hand fighting to get off the line (not that he's bad at it but he could be better) he could be near unsto...
Lol you can't cut Hawthorne yet
Cap wise or talent wise? Being that it's post June 1st pretty much everyone is on the table cap wise. Hawthorne would save $2m on the cap this year and $2.5m next year. That's not insignificant. The question then becomes do we have a replacement fo...

re: Jimmy Graham and Saints reached agreement - 4 year 40 Mil / 21 Mil Guaranteed - bonethug0108
Thing is we have Jordan under contract through the end of the 2015 season. Galette is dependent on whether he gets 12 sacks(FA next year) or not(FA at the end of the 2015 season). So while Jordan is more important, Galette's future may have to be decided first. It may actually increase our odd...

re: Cap Guru's & 53 man roster - bonethug0108
Thanks blues. Just wanted to update some stuff about Graham's contract. Loomis added a $5m roster bonus in year 2 that gives us flexibility with the roster. In addition to being able to convert Lofton and/or Byrd's roster bonus we can also convert Graham's.That would save us $3.3m in cap. The ...

re: Jimmy Graham and Saints reached agreement - 4 year 40 Mil / 21 Mil Guaranteed - bonethug0108
And don't forget we need about a mil for the 52nd and 53rd players(combined not each) and another $800k for the PS players(again combined). That leaves us with closer to $2.5m for emergency signings, with anything left being carried over. Last year we only had half a mil left to carry over....
I think all the guaranteed money is paid within the first two years. 8 mil this year, and then 13 mil the next. Maybe they were confused by that.
It's actually $12m in signing bonus + $1m in base this year + $8m in base next year that's guaranteed. $4m cap hit this year and $11m ne...

Thanks. A lot of it can be found in the link in the first post, just takes a while to get used to "reading" the numbers and then understanding how the numbers can be manipulated. Like the Lofton thing, he could also be cut and save $4m instead of staying and having his roster bonus re...

Apparently the details are (mostly)out and this year he costs $4m on the cap and $11m next year. That puts us about $4.5m under this year and about $13m over next year. About half of that $4.5m will be rolled over unless there's some emergency signings and/or an extension for someone(less about a...

Can't believe I forgot the backup QB battle. Hopefully Griffin wins out because we can't really afford to keep 3 QBs being "deep" at WR, LB, CB, and S. That 3rd QB is going to be a waste of roster space as opposed to someone that could be special teams and could potentially become a futu...
It shows teams bring in safeties to stop WRs as well as TEs.
Still not relevant unless you can show me one safety who spends even half his time in man coverage on a WR. If anything I believe Vaccaro played man against TEs and HBs more than against slot receivers. I know Vaccaro was used a lot against Tony G. That actually plays in to what the Bucs did with Barron and Graham which would again help the NFL's case. Not seeing how that helps Graham at all....

re: Butch Davis: Barron drafted because of Graham - bonethug0108
Turned it around how? This was about a safety being drafted to cover a tight end, and that same team not drafting a corner to do so. And that same team also wouldn't draft a safety to cover a wide receiver. So if they wouldn't draft a safety to cover a wide receiver, then they saw Graham as a tig...

We're offering $9.5m per. If we tagged him 3 years in a row at $7m, $8.4m, and then $12m it comes out to about $9.2m per. We actually do better not signing him long term. Of course that would create bad feelings so everyone should have a long term deal as their best bet....

Well done. No Saints bias though I can tell it came from a Saints fan with a deeper knowledge of our backups. Hard to argue the rankings. Technically we could franchise him a third time for about $12m and still come out cheaper than the $9.5m per we are offering ($9.2m average if tagged 3 years in a row). But I think everyone would prefer just to work out a long term deal that makes everyone happy. It also allows us the option to t...
