re: This team desperately needs an identity - Zoombop
Poor coaching and game planning. Monty has preached defense since he became the head coach, yet since Okafor and Ariza were shipped out, this team hasn't made it above 13th in overall defense. This year they are 22nd. So it's clear the defensive calling card isn't actually there. Offensively, we ...

Despite his statistical output, Jenkins, nor the rest of that Philadelphia secondary was good this year. Injuries and attitude were the reasons ours was so awful this year....

I think Terrance Knighton could end up being a good signing for us. I would be cool with him coming at a similar rate that Bunkley did for 5 years/$25mil....

Are the Saints and fans overrating how good this team has been? - Zoombop
Since the Super Bowl, we have won the NFC South just once, won only 2 playoff games and missed the post-season twice. It doesn't scream dominance or dynasty to me, but for some reason, we seem to think that it's been just that. I include myself in that. What do y'all think? ...

I really like the Dante Fowler pick. His athletic ceiling is lower than Randy Gregory and Shane Ray, but his all-around production and skill is higher than theirs....
why arent these just signing bonuses to begin with? whats the point of putting that money on the cap if you can avoid it?
My guess is that the roster bonuses are not part of the guaranteed $ in the original deal....

re: What are the ingredients for sustaining success? (NE, GB, & Denver related) - Zoombop
Good drafting and discipline with free agents. We have had no direction when it comes to drafting players. We don't pick for need and never go BPA after the 1st round which is vital for sustaining success, and the reason we are now scrambling to find replacements for our declining o-line. There h...

re: Free Agent Cornerbacks - Zoombop
Yeah, someone did a very detailed breakdown of cap stuff about a week ago. Jordan is going into the last year of his rookie deal and Ingram is a free agent (whom I expect will move on to greener pastures). You're correct with Grubbs and Evans, but the team will just have to bite the bullet on one of...

Tillman, Ike Taylor, Tramon Williams. All those guys have LA roots and are free agents. They're also all over the age of 32 and either injury prone or completely on the decline. That's not what we need at all....

re: Free Agent Cornerbacks - Zoombop
We are actually in a better cap situation than we were last year. I'm expecting more sweeping changes to come through, especially to the offense this year. At least one of the guards will be gone, Colston may be gone, Drew could be extended and have his cap # spread out. Plus there are a few guys on...

re: Saints OL problems go beyond current players... - Zoombop
Tennant and Brown were definitely misses. And while I agree with the guys above me that you shouldn't put much stock into the guys taken in the 5th or later, for a team that prides itself in finding late round gems, they have missed on a lot of o-linemen. The approach needs to be different for th...

Free Agent Cornerbacks - Zoombop
Our track record for drafting corners is awful, that much is obvious (see: Malcolm Jenkins, Patrick Robinson, Johnny Patrick, Stanley Jean-Baptiste, Corey White). However, we have proven to be much better at bringing in free agents at the position and having them not only excel here, but also come a...
