re: Jalen Collins 40 time Updated - BayouCowboy
Regarding the RR vs Collins debate, both players showed flashes and both had struggles. Collins was burned early and often when he first started before being dropped on the depth chart. He turned it around last season. No coaching blunders, no conspiracy theories, the guy manned up and stepped up...

re: Love him or Hate him, DJ Welter Career Highlights - BayouCowboy
After watching the highlights, I see several things that made DJ Welter a very poor middle LB, besides being undersized. 1) Welter's feet always stop on contact. He never keeps his feet moving through the tackle 2) Welter never stopped someone in their tracks in the hole. It was always a f...

re: Defensive line and defensive back depth - BayouCowboy
I'm really hoping Valentine impresses and gets to start. His size will not only clog up the interior line and draw double teams, but he would be able to keep the LBs free to roam....

Bottom line is the 2 best recruiting tools are winning and developing players that are NFL ready. Everything else is glitter....

re: Tony Ball set to be the new WRs coach at LSU - BayouCowboy
Well the WR recruits apparently love him. And everyone is saying he's a damn solid position coach. I am happy.
If Ball can coach up the WRS then that will more than draw interest for recruits. If they develop and go on to the NFL there is no greater recruiting tool. He'll be land...

re: No excuses for this offense next year. NONE..!!! - BayouCowboy
Cameron eluded to changing the offense up after the loss to ND. Hopefully Miles allows him to do so. Need to get our RBs and QBs in open space more. Use the whole field. We shall see. I'm optimistic though!
I'll be curious to see that because we run a pro-style offense out of heavy...

re: The Table is Now Set for Harris! - BayouCowboy
Les, Cam and our QBs need to step up their game because we have the pieces in place to make this a great offense. It's really on all of their heads if we don't produce this next season....

re: Tre valentine eligible for 2015 - BayouCowboy
Outside of Fournette, Valentine was the guy I was most excited about playing. I think he'll be such a force in the middle that it will transform the D. We were soft in the interior. With TV and Beckwith that will no longer be the case....

re: Holton Hill commits to Texas - BayouCowboy
I still don't understand why we are going hard after CBs. We have 6 on roster and 2 more who will sign on NSD. Even if you say Lewis will be a safety, 7 is enough for a 2 man rotation, 3rd string for both spots, plus a nickel corner. Then Lewis will play down at nickel if we happen to need hi...

re: Brandon's high school coach comments - BayouCowboy
I get that Harris may not have been ready to take on a significant role, but I do wonder why they didn't have certain packages to get him on the field more. I've heard all the rumors about his maturity and dedication, but I also know from family and friends up here in NWLA that Harris is a good...

re: Cool/interesting chart: How each Super Bowl starter was ranked in HS - BayouCowboy
I don't know if the OP was trying to make a point but I thought it was interesting. If the question is do *s matter it would be yes, but raw talent still must be developed through good coaching and the desire of the individual....
I have not been heaping praise on Grimes recruiting and still am not. Having said that, compare last 2 years with Studrawa with 1 year of Grimes (hired in Jan 2014 means anything after Feb 2014 is Grimes). Rivals #s Studrawa Pocic 6.0, Malone 5.6, Clapp 5.8, Brumfield 5.8, Boutte 5.9, Dod...

re: Big Picture Issue with LSU Recruiting - BayouCowboy
We ranked 2nd to last in QB play (yards/TDs/rating) ahead of Driskel and FLA and dead last in SEC completion percentage at 48.8% (121st in the nation out of 123 QBs rated according to ESPN). I get that Jennings is still learning/developing, but considering teams load the box to stop the run due to ...

re: Chavis's departure will end up being a blessing - BayouCowboy
I don't follow recruiting closely, but it does seem we recruit far better at safety and CB than we do at LB and DL. We may start to see more NFL size LBs on the roster rather than guys that look more like safeties. Beckwith and Garrett was a start in the right direction and it took a year to get B...
