| Tiger Rant|| re: The real question... When will LSU play Southeastern in football? - BayouCowboy on 6/20/14 at 8:13 am|
I'm a SLU grad. Honestly, LSU dropping a 40+ point loss on SLU won't do either program any good. A little extra money won't help and I don't think it does SLU any good as far as recruiting.
Win the Southland and compete for the FCS title and all else will come in line....

| Tiger Rant|| re: Let us talk Les Miles for a second.... - BayouCowboy on 4/24/14 at 4:35 pm|
Miles is a modern day Lou Holtz. He's an odd, quirky fellow that the players love, gets solid results and the media gravitate to for some juicy sound bite.
He has turned recruiting around since he's been here and to think that is a direct result of Saban is ridiculous. Nicky had success here an...
| Tiger Rant|| re: Is 2014 football a "rebuilding" year? - BayouCowboy on 4/17/14 at 1:46 pm|
While I don't totally disagree with the OP, I think the D will be exceptionally better. The development of Hunter, Rasco, White and Robinson will be evident and their improved play towards the end of the season implies this. Kwon will be better. Mills looks better at safety than he did at CB. DT...

I love the maturity and desire of this kid. Throw in his natural talent and leadership and you have to believe that great things are ahead for the program.
It just seems that all the pieces are starting to fall in place for this team. I know it's premature to expect a team with so much transi...
| Tiger Rant|| re: How good is fournette for real?? - BayouCowboy on 4/10/14 at 3:56 pm|
I saw some stats on ESPN that said on 96 of Hill's 203 carries, there were 8 or more min in the box and Hill averaged 8 yards a carry and 15 TDs. They say that is an Automatic Qualifying best in the nation. So what do you think a talent like Fournette is going to do with that same line and th...
| Tiger Rant|| re: How good is fournette for real?? - BayouCowboy on 4/10/14 at 11:31 am|
He will be that good because:
1) OL returning 4 starters and should be one of the nation's best
2) Grimes is better than Stud
3) Neighbors is a good FB that can clear lanes
4) LF is just that good
Of course there will be growing pains, but he's walked into a great situation. He has help wi...
| Tiger Rant|| re: LSU football - over/under 9 wins this year? - BayouCowboy on 4/10/14 at 8:57 am|
I really think we are going to see a 2011 type season. Our DBs are going to be really good this year. LBs should be slightly improved. Rasco and Hunter will have a better season and there will be a heavy DT rotation which will keep the middle from getting worn down.
Offensively we have one of t...

I saw mention of the fact that Welter only had 25 solo tackles as the 2nd leading tackler on the team. Barrow who was 1st in tackles had 23 solo. Barrow had 1.5 sacks vs 2.0 for Welter. They were also close to even in tackles for loss. Barrow ranked 9th in the SEC in tackles and Welter was 15th....
| Tiger Rant|| re: LSU Starting Linebacker's Thread - BayouCowboy on 4/8/14 at 1:12 pm|
The reality is that if Hunter and Rasco put anywhere near the pressure Mingo and Montgomery did, if the DTs were as stout in 2013 as they were in 2012 and if there weren't as many beakdowns in the secondary as there were last season, Welter's play would have really been unnoticed. Even Lotson strug...
| Tiger Rant|| re: LSU Starting Linebacker's Thread - BayouCowboy on 4/7/14 at 8:57 am|
It looks like the folks here on TD are in a quandary. If DJ is as bad as you say he is and there are better players that should be starting, then that fault lies with the coaching staff. This means you have to openly criticize Les and Chief which as I have found on this board to be a mortal sin.
Who would you say was the worst defensive starter (by far) last season or for the past 20 years?
Honestly it was a team effort of badness. A better question would be how many games were lost due to poor DB play or lack of pressure on the QB.
Welter had 81 tckls, 4 TFL and 2 sacks. ...
| Tiger Rant|| re: 2014 Linebackers - BayouCowboy on 3/27/14 at 8:32 am|
Man, a lot of you guys are crapping on Welter like he was the sole reason the defense struggled. I can't honestly say any player on the D played consistently good last season. The secondary had broken assignments, the D line struggled to get consistent pressure and the DEs and OLBs did not contain...
Oh for the love of sweet jesus I hope you are right!!!!!
I just simply think that with Cameron's range of experience he won't be tied to some unwritten rule about true freshmen starting or belief that a dual threat QB is always going to be better than a traditional style QB.

I think everyone who believes Les has a pre-conceived plan on who and what type of QB he wants can be put at ease. Cam is making the call. Miles brought him in because he's a friend, has a range of experience and is fully capable of making the right decision on the direction of the offense. Miles...

My guess is that at this point it is as about as wide open a competition as it can be because at this point no one has proven to be head and shoulders above the rest. The starter will be who they think has the best shot to win NOW, especially with a tough D1 team in Wisconsin as our 1st game. I do...

Get ready for RBU (Running Back Univ). We perpetually load up on RB talent and with Grimes recruiting OL we become one of the most dominant running teams in the nation coupled with dual threat QBs. LSU renames the offense "Ground and pound" and players take on MMA personas.
Defense remains top ...
| Tiger Rant|| re: Mettenberger > Bridgewater - BayouCowboy on 2/28/14 at 10:26 am|
Mett could be as good as Flacco, but he still has another year of learning to read defenses and adjust to the game speed. I wish he had Cam that first year here. The jump from JUCO to SEC ball was certainly a challenge that 1st year and now it's going to speed up even more. If he gets on a team w...

| Tiger Rant|| re: Brandon Harris vs Anthony Jennings - BayouCowboy on 2/21/14 at 8:15 am|
I think the reason everyone is so excited about Harris is his quick release and velocity on his throws. Jennings doesn't have the zip and if his throws float they will get picked in the SEC. Unfortunately all 3 have accuracy issues with Jennings maybe being the most accurate.
Regardless who win...
| LSU Recruiting Board|| re: Cam Cameron and the TALL recievers - BayouCowboy on 2/20/14 at 3:14 pm|
Tall or short doesn't matter. All I know is that this current set of WRs may be thin on experience, but they are deep on talent. Quinn, Dupre, Peterson, Diarse and Dural give us an impressive corps. Add in Leslie and Upchurch and you can expect quite a battle for playing time next season.
| Tiger Rant|| re: Is this pretty much proof that Rettig is out as well? - BayouCowboy on 2/20/14 at 8:50 am|
Well Cameron coached Antwan Randle El at Indiana so I'm sure he is interested in using the best talent he has available to be successful. If that's a dual threat, read option offense, then so be it. He'll still find ways to get his WRs involved. That's actually the great thing about Cam. He's ad...
