As much as I dislike auburn, that game last week resulted in more mutual respect between the two programs. Auburn won that one straight up. No Cam Newton factor in that one.
Agree. Lots of respect for Auburn with that Iron Bowl win. They should have lost by 17-20 points, but the...
| SEC Rant|| re: Bama fans only...How many are rooting for the Tigers? - droliver on 12/6/13 at 10:45 pm|
Not ashamed to root for Auburn in this as they're the best chance to get an SEC team in the BCSNC game (albeit remote chance) to continue the streak which helps everyone in the conference. It's in both our interests for them to win, and anyone who who doesn't get that is just a fool who doesn't get ...
| SEC Rant|| re: Where do you rank the Iron Bowl among the greatest rivalries in sports? - droliver on 12/6/13 at 2:28 pm|
Lakers-Celtics is more of an "echo" of a rivalry from another era rather then an active one. Since the era of free agency in the 1980's, there's just not enough continuity of the teams anymore for this to resonate. The NBA is now more a league where players are the star rather then the teams per se....

While there's merit to some of these retrospective calls, you could do that in almost any close game. We lost. They won. GOAT ending of a football game ever, appreciate our fantastic 5 year run and just move on.
Gus is brilliant. Am not ashamed to root for Auburn over Mizzou as it's the SEC's bes...
here isn't any "Bama luck". That easy schedule isn't an accident. That shite is intentional dude.
It's baffling to hear so many complaints against having to play a team (Florida) that's lost 5 or more games 6 of the last 12 years. In point of fact, UF has been pretty inconsisten...
| SEC Rant|| re: Ivan Maisel Tells It Like It Is Re: Up-tempo Offenses - droliver on 11/24/13 at 4:39 pm|
I'd compare Auburn's running scheme to how the Denver Broncos ran last decade. They had a very novel zone blocking scheme with smaller, quicker OL that was just brutally effective for a few years. They were literally just plugging a different RB in every year and the guy had 1100+ yrds/season. It wa...
| SEC Rant|| re: Bama/LSU defense vs JFF - droliver on 11/24/13 at 4:32 pm|
Chavis is a real pro for sure.
I think some people are forgetting how the Alabama-TAM game actually went down. Manziel, et al was actually well controlled for most of that game. He made a couple of freak-show, throw it up for grabs low percentage completions that were in fact well defended. Evans...
To be fair, AU doesn't run a finesse style game like Baylor, Oregon etc
Malzhan's system is still a finesse spread though the way they run it in terms of formations and personnel even though it's a predominately a running attack. That's not a slight, but if you watch what Auburn do...
USC would have beaten Auburn by double digits that year (2004). It's been a great turnaround, but you're lucky to only have 1 loss and won't beat Bama anyway.
Too true. Auburn was better served by not getting abused by one of those great USC teams of those years. ...

Would take a very spectacular set of upsets to squeak in, but who saw Iowa st. Knocking off OSU two years ago?
There's a better then average chance of 3 undefeated teams still existing should Alabama lose to AU. It also is not clear that Auburn would be higher ranked then Oregon (although we shou...
| SEC Rant|| re: So the Alabama targeting play last night - droliver on 11/17/13 at 10:17 am|
I don't think you can have targeting on a kickoff play when there's no fair catch as the player isn't considered defenseless. Also, he hit him at shoulder level (albeit his head was down).
It was a very dangerous play however, and is certainly the kind of hit they'd like to eliminate. Again, I do...
It appears there is a slight lean to LSU fans not pulling for Bama.
Some fan bases just don't get it. The perception of conference strength is the best guarantee that the SEC gets a chance for 2 teams in the future playoff. This is to LSU's and every other team's benefit. Much like...

I love going to games in Baton Rogue as the atmosphere is so electric, but Tiger Stadium and LSU's campus physical plant is really a notch down from Alabama's campus and stadium these days.

It's hard to argue that Miles is not under achieving with the talent they've had at LSU his whole tenure. LSU is a great job where it's almost impossible not to be competitive and comes with a high salary, and you'd have TONS of people aiming for it. At this point, you're also not going to be compared directly to your predecessor anymore who may be the GOAT among college football coaches

Alabama is kind of the "default" school for the state being the flagship of the state university system. The state breaks down about 75:25 among the fanbase favoring UA, with the next generation of fans (the ones now young kids) being even more lopsided I'd guess given the success of Saban in recent...

There is nothing to suggest that he is remotely qualified to be the AD over a $130M+ budget. He's a football coach with no background in business.
