re: The Official DISNEY Tournament: Classics Bracket (Voting Open!) - MrTide33
Went with a majority of underdogs.
This bracket is going to have such a major range of opinions that underdogs will be much more prevalent. It's looking like 7 of the 8 winners of Bracket 1 were seeded in the top 8. I expect Jungle Book to make it out of the first round pretty e...

The Official DISNEY Tournament: Classics Bracket (Voting Open!) - MrTide33
Alright, the Classics Bracket is ready for voting. This one will stay open until Monday at 11:59 p.m. You may disagree with the seeding personally, but remember that these are all high-quality films with broad ranges of opinion. I will post the results of the first bracket in the 2nd post. ...

re: DISNEY Tournament Master Thread - MrTide33
To address Teddy Paddilac's criticism from the other thread, Frozen has a much higher critic score than Cars. Although it's score is lower than quite a few others in the bracket, it is a more recent phenomenon and therefore received a higher seed, while being matched up against a pretty fair adversa...

re: DISNEY Tournament Master Thread - MrTide33
LoveThatMoney
 I just noted that I can understand the difference in the level of suspension of disbelief, given that any other PIXAR movies either had characters that were already living or shared a world with humans that created them. I think you addressed the real reasons...

re: Anchor Please (DISNEY Set Up) - MrTide33
So you think Disney would rather make Ratatouille 2 or Up 2 or Cars 3?
Hard to say. Obviously Cars got a sequel, but as great as John Lasseter is, Cars is sort of his pet project, and he will probably be allowed to make them as long as the kids enjoy them and the company makes mon...

re: Anchor Please (DISNEY Set Up) - MrTide33
TeddyPadillac
The argument is that kids are simple. Cars is an extremely merchandisable series. So is Nemo, which will blow the roof when another installment hits like Cars 2. Kids enjoy the movie Up but there isn't much merchandising ability. Bottom line is that while making m...

re: DISNEY Tournament Master Thread - MrTide33
LoveThatMoney
To be fair, Freauxzen's argument does make sense in that the Cars franchise is the only Pixar film not to address humanity. Bug's life doesn't necessarily show humans, but it does show that it takes place in the human's world. Even if it didn't, bug's are already liv...
TeddyPadillac
FTR, are you saying Cars>Lion King? Lion King is the story of a young, reckless prince that has his world rocked when his uncle murders his father. Believing that it was his fault, he attempts to run away from his troubles. When Nala finds him and tells him the sta...
Spirited Away is the best in the Misc bracket
It may be left out depending in how we decide if it's really Disney and if it could lessen the tournament by winning. I personally doubt Spirited Away would beat out Lion King/Toy Story/Beauty and the Beast though in the final four...

re: Anchor Please (DISNEY Set Up) - MrTide33
Nemo and Toy Story are in a different class than Frozen and Cars, IMO. I put Frozen at 2 for it's success, but you see it's even struggled against Ratatouille, a largely passed over Pixar film. Because the story is not as strong. Same with Big Hero 6. ...

re: Anchor Please (DISNEY Set Up) - MrTide33
I may do some play-ins on the miscellaneous. The quickest way to do this would be pick 1 of 3 like:
7 Bedknobs and Broomsticks 10 Enchanted 10 Muppets
Does that make sense to everybody?...

re: Anchor Please (DISNEY Set Up) - MrTide33
That seems kind of dumb and unfair.
The point of tournaments like the college football playoff are to keep the very best teams in the longest. With this kind of tournament, it has to be rigged at least a touch so that it's not a lot of boring discussion. The end result of this is s...

re: Anchor Please (DISNEY Set Up) - MrTide33
I made it a 7 to give it a good matchup against Pocahontas. And I wanted to make sure it stays on the same side of the bracket as TS1, otherwise the bracket would end up clogged with all of the Toy Story movies. I think it's fair the TS1 knocks out TS2 in the second round to clear space for o...
