re: Has CPM recruited for small ball? Size indicates so, but why no small ball? - bradybones24
The one thing that stands out to me, is how much this team hits the ball in the air. When Arizona won the NC, they had a very speedy team similar to ours. THeir motto in the CWS was "HOGS." Stood for Hard, On-the-ground swings.
I agree totally with this. I was amazed how many fl...

re: Has CPM recruited for small ball? Size indicates so, but why no small ball? - bradybones24
And I'm fine with that, but we're not playing with a small ball strategy. Look at last year's CWS against UCLA. They played small ball and we did not. Our talent and size dictates that small ball is the answer.
My biggest beef with CPM is sort of the opposite....it's his unwillingn...

re: Is baseball unwatchable for anyone else? (bat thread) - bradybones24
I knew last year when UCLA's pitcher was using the 88 MPH high fastball as a go to pitch to get fly ball outs...If he brings that crap in MLB he'll never get out of rookie ball. They went from not being able to tell who was a good hitter to not being able to tell who is a good pitcher....

re: Would a new basketball recruiting strategy help? - bradybones24
LSU is no place for On The Job Training. IF JJ or anybody on the staff can't coach defense, they don't deserve to be here. We don't need a coach that "Has to Improve" his coaching skills. Those coaching skills should already be in place by the time you're hired to be the head man at a high pr...

I'm not going to bash you because I think I understand what you're getting at. Unfortunately I think LSU goes after the best players possible and much of the time these guys are from Louisiana. I don't think anyone would argue that the basketball being played north of the mason Dixon is more quali...
Wouldn't being taller and longer, but still being quick, make it easier to get in front of someone trying to penetrate or make it easier to cut them off or disrupt? I feel like it could mask deficiencies in footwork, etc.
Absolutely...but normally being taller and longer results in...
not to mention how huge it will be for us to have guards taller than my 8 year old cousin.
I agree their height is a liability...but the majority of the time they get beat off the dribble and they can't get their body in front of the ball handler. Aside from this the guards DO NOT...
Absolutely. It's a combination of things, but effort and desire really do go a long way as you know. I'm just tired of people laying it all at Jones' feet. He has a responsibility to get the guys in the right position and they haven't been there in the last few games. But the players also hav...
I see what you're saying... but you need that extra energy/effort to fight through a screen or effectively close out on a shooter. Like someone said earlier, several guys get screened and just give up.
True, but there is a technique to fighting thru a screen...it's called "leg-whi...
I think we can all agree that most of the defensive issues revolve around effort; which is very surprising to me. Last year's team lacked many things, but effort certainly wasn't one of them. It seemed that they busted tail on every position, regardless of the situation in the game.
...
