It's amazing how quick after a thaw ducks will appear. in 2008 we had a cold snap in January that froze everything shallow out for about 3 days. I hunted the last day it was frozen and killed the only 3 ducks I saw. That afternoon it got to about 35 and ducks poured off the Mississippi in droves....

Yeah I've done it for years also. In 2000-2001 we fought it all season and had some mallard massacres over a small hole in the decoys. The key is to break big sheets of ice off and slide under the ice. With that said if I can avoid it I will try to time my hunt for the thaw. NE LA and SE Arkansa...

We are looking at a crazy hunt in N TX Saturday with a low of 22 and high of 34 and a sleetstorm. I've hammered them in ice storms in the past so we will see. Luckily the lease is a huge farm with lots of deep lakes and ditches because the rice field will be pretty solid I'm afraid. ...
| Outdoor Board|| re: Where's the ducks at? - TigerDog83 on 11/23/13 at 9:10 pm|
Just too much pressure in the fields around Stuttgart? We used to have some barnburner hunts in the White River NWR when water got right but I've never had too many good rice field shoots around Stuttgart. I will admit I haven't hunted around Stuttgart in probably 10 years though. ...

I could be wrong, but I just don't think a lot of the ducks hit South LA like they used to. Same thing with geese. Where tons used to winter in South TX/South LA a lot of those birds now stay in Arkansas and NE LA. Rice production just isn't the same in the southern areas. There are still lots o...

Evans does get away with lots of contact, but it's smart to play that way if refs will allow it at the college level. What would have really added points to the LSU column tonight would have been if they called a PI on Harris who probably has about half of Beckham's jersey and arm in his gear bag t...

Club had tons of birds last weekend in N TX. Guys had 24 last Sat by 830 but only 2 were mallards. Ton of wigeon, gray, and pintail. I haven't heard how they did today but I'm sure it's starting to green up a bit. We usually don't pick up until mid December with all the mallards. ...

Another question that historians seem to argue about is if capturing Moscow would have led the Russians to seek a settlement. There seems to be debate about what the loss of Moscow would have meant, as the Russians had moved so much of their industrial production to the far east as quickly as they ...
