So I stopped in today for lunch. Place was pretty packed. Service was VERY slow. They apologized, and I will chaulk it up to a new restaurant on a busy Friday. However, the food was just ok, and the prices were high. Had the $9 banh mi pork sandwich. Not much pork in it and pretty dry. I underst...

re: The hop craze and how it is affecting the craft beer indusry - vistajay
Agree. Wine in America went through the high alcohol fruit bomb red wine and oaky chardonney phases, and is now settling into a more restrained, balanced style that Europe never really lost. Beer is following a similar trajectory, with American brewers putting their own stamp on beer with these pra...

Anyone try Viet Orleans Bistro in NOLA CBD yet? - vistajay
It's at 300 Baronne and appears to have opened in the last week. Gambit gave it a little press April 23. Have not seen any reviews yet and cannot even find a menu or web site on internet. Pumped to have a sit down vietnamese option downtown. Anyone try it yet?...

re: New Archdiocese of N.O. implementation plan revealed. - vistajay
I suspect it does apply to Brother Martin, Holy Cross, etc... Also, the policy clearly mandates pre-K to 7th grade elementary schools, and 8-12th high schools. It will not be enough, for example, for HC to just separate its middle school from its high school. HC would have to separate and then add ...

I have 3 kids and it is easy to appreciate their individual talents and love them equally for who they are. re: Best area to live in NOLA if you have a dog? - vistajay
Most homes in Lakeview will have a decent yard for a dog, if you want to stay in town. Also levees, lakefront, City Park and NOLA Bark dog park provide lots of dog exercise spaces in/near Lakeview. Of course, it is easier to find large yards the further from town you live....
