re: When air travel had some respectability - vistajay
Look you don't have to wear a suit, but there are a lot of comfortable clothes options before you descend into the land of PJs. I don't want to see you in your PJs in the grocery store either, much less in an airport. ...

re: Childhood pranks you did that are now not funny - vistajay
In 1st grade I broke off the end of my white plastic fork and dropped the pieces in my friend's milk. I stopped him from drinking it but he told Sister Estelle anyway. She beat my ass. Not sure now why I thought that would be funny. ...

re: Jazz Fest crowd control - vistajay
I was at Gentilly Stage yesterday (at least until Nick Jonas came on) and it was perfect. Light crowds, cool breeze. Food and beer lines everywhere away from Acura were no problem. One of my better days at Jazz Fest. I don't go to Acura unless it is a band I must hear before I die....

re: Looking for places to live in New Orleans - vistajay
Yea St. Charles and Jackson area is changing, but not quick enough for you to want to live there I suspect. You would be ok on the river side, but NOT on the lake side of St. Charles in that area. your price point may make the nice Uptown areas tough though. I would check out Mid City for more re...

re: Louisiana Charter School Question & Discussion - vistajay
At least with charter schools in NOLA the families have a choice. If the school is not providing a quality education, they can move to another or not go there in the first place. The ones who are screwed in the charter system are the kids with parents who are too lazy or stupid to research the optio...

re: LA Fire age changes for competitive league - vistajay
Well, "high" is relative. My point is that right now he loves his club team but it is a big commitment. We are constantly telling him he cannot do other things he wants to do, because of his soccer schedule. He accepts that for now. But to the extent this reorganization lands him on a team that is...

re: LA Fire age changes for competitive league - vistajay
This will suck for my son, as he has a late in the calendar year birthday and his current team is perfect for him. I suspect I will look back later and see this rule change as the beginning of the end of his interest in soccer at a high level. Oh well, at least he will have more time for other purs...

re: Why exactly was Pinball banned in NYC for over 30 years? - vistajay
My grandfather used to tell me they had a few of these at Metairie Country Club back then. Jefferson Parish decided to crack down on the machines parish-wide. My grandfather's buddies got nervous and took them for a boat ride and dumped them into Lake Ponchartrain. ...

re: Soccer complex on The Fly is dead - vistajay
[quote]But the green space at the fly that everyone uses is on the river side of the road and a little bit on the opposite side. The soccer fields are on the railroad track side of the land where very few people hang out and there's been soccer fields there for many many years. I haven't seen a full...

re: Who is the hardest type of person for you to get along with? - vistajay
I agree with OP, in that I cannot stand people who demand to get their way no matter how miserable it makes them and everyone else around them. People who can't check into a hotel or have dinner at a restaurant without raising a host of perceived slights and absolutely refusing to budge until those...

re: How old were you when you drank your first beer, who'd you drink it with? - vistajay
12 yrs old. Helped the dads erect the booths for the parish fair. Our reward was cold draft bear and raw oysters. I was hesitant at first, but one of my buddy's dads said I had done the work and deserved a drink with everyone else. Best taste of beer and best raw oysters ever. ...

You are correct. Prof didn't like how Fr. Boudreaux was treated, he raised a stink about it, and he either left or was dismissed. At least, that is what he told me a few years ago. He was at Franklin as of 2 years ago. ...
