re: Whiskey/Bourbon/Scotch appreciation thread - Mr Mom
This years gift from the wife is a bottle of Jefferson presidential select 25. It is pretty damn good. That reminds me, it's time for a pour!...

re: The Old Fashion or Manhattan? - Mr Mom
Ive been working on my recipe. I haven't gotten it right yet. I don't have sugar cubes, but I did make a simple syrup instead. Im using luxardos, an orange slice, a few dashes of Pechaud's bitters, and ER10. I drank most of the bottle this last week trying to "perfect" my recipe. I normally don...

re: Healthier little snacks - Mr Mom
I keep snack size bags of beef jerky and pistachios that I get from Costco. I find it really helps with portion control. Also, maybe try changing the Activia yogurt to some sort of greek yogurt. It will have about the same calorie content if you buy low fat, but I think twice the protein....

re: Your rookie season cooking - Horror Stories - Mr Mom
I have lost track of the times I've grabbed the handle of a cast iron skillet after taking it out of a 450 degree oven. The night it froze in Baton Rouge last year, I nearly took the end of my right thumb off with a mandolin trying to slice carrots for a stir fry. It really needed stitches but I...

re: Outdoor Kitchen (pictures included). Almost complete. First meal to prepare? - Mr Mom
I talked with my contractor for a long time about how to vent my cooking area. I'm spending way too much money on nice wood to have it turn black from ash and smoke. We decided to build a custom commercial style vent over my gas grill, primo, and power burner. It will be overkill, but at least I won...

I've had an insignia brand tv hanging outside for nearly two years with no problems and it has definitely gotten wet a few times. I did tape up all the unused connectors and ports to try and prevent water damage. I think I'm going to look for a 70" vizio this time. I the k you get a lot of tv for th...

re: I heard City Pork 2 opened up - true? - Mr Mom
Wife and I went for lunch today. We really enjoyed it and will be back soon. We started with a charcuterie board. She had the Jefferson greens salad and I had the rabbit and dumplings. It was delicious. It's a little expensive, but I don't mind paying for high quality locally sourced ingredients. I ...

Nice outdoor space you have there! We are breaking ground on ours tomorrow. It is going to be a long couple of months but I'm looking forward to outdoor parties. I'm with you on how expensive it is. I think the quartzite flooring and cypress beams are the biggest cost drivers for our project (we a...

re: Pat's Seafood on Jefferson - Mr Mom
I went tonight. It was quite honestly the worst seafood I have ever eaten. The crab fingers I had were obviously frozen because they were mushy. My wife ordered broiled shrimp. They were dry and flavorless. I got the shrimp dinner. It wasn't really edible. I tried a bit of the stuffed shrimp... It ...

re: Bone in pork loin on the Primo. - Mr Mom
That looks absolutely fantastic. I've never smoked a roast like that on my Primo. Normally when I cook a pork tenderloin or something similar, I cook it to an internal temperature of 145F. I see you cooked yours to 160F. Is this because the rules of smoking and slow cooking apply so you cook to a h...
