If you live in a rural or semi-rural area, I recommend getting some bantam chickens and letting them run free. Just feed them in the yard so they know where "home" is located and the bantams will clear out the ticks for you. I've done this and I know it works....

I do feed the fish regularly. The bass will follow me around the pond waiting to be fed even when I'm down there mowing or weedeating. I don't feed when cold weather gets here, though.
