Not exactly.
Picking highly in the draft is not nearly as important as being hold and attract talent. If you can't hold the talent, you can't win the title. That's what the data says, that's what history says, to anyone who cares to look....

Good time. I didn't try to count, but it was full but comfortable.
Maybe 75 - 100 people there, with some of those just being regulars, some coming to watch the game that had no idea the party was going on.

You can only move up into the top 3 slots (some degree of winning, even for top seed), stay the same as lotto seeding (if the winners are all ahead of your seeding), or fall back up to 3 slots (1 for each of winners slotted less favorably).
From 5, 4 is left out. So are 9-14.

The right to choose at slot x v slot y or what you trade that right for is far less important than how the Pelicans all their resources.
Luck can be a factor in anything, but I see this draft slot difference as something of lesser importance....
