Why not build on a new site that's clear with nothing to clean up?
Sewers, streets, water lines, etc. They are already in place. Still easier to rebuild on the old site. Plus some sections of the city remain intact....

Here are some maps showing how rare this kind of protection is in the south. I'm actually shocked Eureka Springs isn't on this yet. The deep purple is protection in all employment. The lighter purple is public employees only, etc: Map of states, cities, and counties that have sexual orientatio...

The natural and arts amenities have been funded greatly recently. I expect more in the form of grants for urban planning and incentives for infill development. Everything released by the WFF lately has talked about "creating places" and improving the livability of the NWA cities. ...

Walton Family Foundation to "shower cash" on home region - Numberwang
Over the next 6 years, NW Arkansas and the Delta region are going to get $302 million. The past few years have been crazy (WAC expansion, Kessler Mountain, trails, etc), but its going to get crazier as far as Walton-funded amenities. http://www.nwaonline.com/news/2014/aug/20/walton-group-to-show...

Just about any dumbass knows that when you critique how well a city (in this case Fayetteville) is or isn't doing, you should compare it to what are called its "peer cities". Compare it to other college towns in the south. Compare it to other landlocked American cities with a population of 75,000 ...

Fayetteville is struggling so hard, that's why Whole Foods broke ground on their new Fayetteville store last week, Dickson rents are sky high with almost no vacancies, and population is up 7000 people over the past four years. That's why they're building $200-300k zero-lot homes on the southside ...

Fayetteville passed its LGBT Non-discrimination ordinance last night. - Numberwang
Arkansas is one of many (most) states which do not protect LGBT people against discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodation on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. After a marathon 10 hour city council meeting, Fayetteville city council passed protections for LGBT...
