Not all of us. Nurse was one of the cool kids. Although that is kind of like an oxymoron at a magnet school....

re: Thoughts and Experiences Bow Fishing - LSUengr
Slightly off topic, but my 12 year daughter has just gotten into shooting. She mentioned wanting to do bowfishing. What poundage range are you shooting when bowfishing? She is currently shooting at 30. Trying to get her to 40 by deer season....

re: Merging lanes...which driver are you? - LSUengr
That is actually incorrect. A highway lane can only support around 1500 vehicles per hour for a 55 mph speed limit. Once over 1500 vph the speed will slow with no incident because the highway becomes congested. Once you reach around 2200 vph, you have reached highway capacity and the speed will be...

Main takeaways from the Minnesota DOT policy for those who don't want to read the whole thing (TL;DR): “Benefits” We have witnessed 3 primary safety and operational improvements whenever the Zipper System has been deployed. These improvements were found regardless of whether the system had comp...

Minnesota, by the way, is one example in the States of where electronic signage is used to instruct when to late merge versus early merge. [link=(http://www.dot.state.mn.us/trafficeng/workzone/doc/When-latemerge-zipper.pdf)]Minnesota Merging[/link]...

re: Merging lanes...which driver are you? - LSUengr
Again, the merge is not what is causing the slow down in speed and for the lane to become halted. Highway capacity is doing that. Think of an open interstate with no merges. Why doesn't it always flow at 65 mph? Because of highway capacity. Once the amount of cars on the roadway approaches and ...

re: Merging lanes...which driver are you? - LSUengr
That is exactly the point, traffic would move more efficiently, 15% as general rule if drivers approached the merge and got in the shortest line. Then one lane wouldn't back up further than the other and no one would feel like someone is trying to get to the front of the line. Again this is talkin...

re: Merging lanes...which driver are you? - LSUengr
Zipper merging around here doesn't work because of people who have some preconceived notion that it isn't better. They get all offended that they early merged and someone else is getting ahead of them. If people wouldn't make it a competition, it would work. It works in other developed countries,...

Another vote for average middle class family that catches snapper. We fish them out of a 21' express with a 200 out of venice. Are we limited on when we can go? Sure. However, we have fished the 12 mile rigs out of it on the right day. Running to east bay rigs to catch some snapper when they are bit...

We looked a lot of places down river and birds were thin. Only place we didn't check was east bay. 5 of us again this morning scratched out 24 by lunch. 4 greys, 2 Pintail, 6 teal, 6 cans, 2 do gris, and 4 ringnecks. Decided to come home a day early since birds were thin where we were located....

re: Venice reports - LSUengr
Down river is tough right now. Took us from daylight to noon to scratch out 23 ducks for the 5 of us. Tomorrow looks worse. No feed anywhere and just a handful of ducks. We have done a lot of riding. Hoping this front pushes them down or Friday and Saturday is going to be slow down here....
