re: Spinoff from 12 yr old thread: football as a fix for tPOS? - drunkenpunkin
I'm pretty sure that's what it is but they need to do a better job off the field. Football can't be everything and I don't think it'll save this kid if he's still allowed to be a POS in every other aspect....

Oh I'm sure this kid has a screwed up home life. Apparently the mom is on jail or was in jail. And he lives in an affluent neighborhood. Kids act out when they're hurting. I get that. But usually not like this at 13. He was arrested for breaking into houses in his neighborhood. Not small time...

You're the kind of coach I'd want for my kids if they were into that sort of thing. I think setting priorities like that and giving a kid something to work for is much more effective than just letting them play because they're aggressive....

That's how I feel. Look at college and NFL players. Football hasn't helped a lot of them not be worthless pieces of shite. ...

re: which type of kid would you rather have? - drunkenpunkin
You can have a preference all you like, but you can't make your kids into what you want them to be if it's not who they are. You can guide but you're not going to make their personality into one you prefer. And if you try, they'll hate you for it. I have a geeky, shy, book worm. Really polite an...

I'm aware. But despite the sampling that is OT, private school is not an option for all. And his school is generally good. I had a very civilized discussion with the principal and his schedule was changed that day. My son brought a low D at interim time to a high B in the new class. ...

re: A 12 year old spit on me yesterday - drunkenpunkin
I think the world would be a better, and less fatally violent, place if you could beat the shite out of kids like that from time to time when they are clearly begging for it. But, nobody listens to me. ...

Spinoff from 12 yr old thread: football as a fix for tPOS? - drunkenpunkin
The 12 year old thread reminded me of a situation at my son's school. There's a kid in his grade who is just a waste of space. He's been arrested several times already (at 13) and is a constant disruption in the classroom. My son refers to him as "the delinquent." I had to get his schedule chang...

re: A 12 year old spit on me yesterday - drunkenpunkin
Despite the usual OT comments that are sure to follow, beating a kid for being a little tPOS is never the answer because you'd end up in jail. I'd have laughed too and then said some choice words. Like "Did you know spitting on people is assault? And I can send your loser as to jail where you wil...

Sorry. I shouldn't have been ugly. Sometimes, though, I think I'm just having a regular conversation, and I don't want to have to explain. Not your fault. Just caught me wrong....

re: Giving Children Coffee Bottles - drunkenpunkin
I know people that do this. I never did. But, my 10 year old will drink coffee every now and then as a treat. He was underweight as a little one and wouldn't drink milk, so I made him "sweet milk" (warm milk I told him I put sugar in) before bedtime. He thought it was a big treat. He sti...

re: Turndown service at a hotel - drunkenpunkin
I've never called for this. They always just did it. The most absurd luxury "service" IMO is a bathroom attendant. It's awkward. I've never needed assistance washing my hands after using the restroom (which I always do because I'm not trash) and I don't want to tip somebody for handing me a fricki...
