re: What is your most memorable co-worker quitting story? - TechME
At a previous job, watched a butch lesbian walk into the boss's office and, loud enough for everyone in the surrounding cubes to hear, told him "I quit. You can take this job and shove it up your ass, and while you're at it you can suck on my strapon." Then she just turned around and left the buil...

re: Is my mechanic ripping me off? (Yes.) Should I take my vehicle somewhere else? - TechME
Not actually a mechanic, but spent more than my share of summer days growing up in a family member's repair shop. Saw way too many customers come in and complain without the first clue as to what actually goes into fixing their car. ...
When you have a 12 year old car?
Age doesn't really matter here. As has been noted previously, labor is the biggest cost here, so whether he just wants the window locked in place, the regulator replaced with a new unit, or replaced with a junkyard unit, unless he's doing the work...
quote: One of the window motors is dead, which I don't care about, but the window will not stay up when I'm driving. Cost to get it locked in place: $140. Seems unreasonable. This si crap. A good mech would get you a junk yard motor and fix it entirely for that.
No they wouldn...
same here. 2 regulators with no drilling involved. very easy
Depends on the make/model, some vehicles require drilling rivets, some others the bolts are blocked and you actually have to drill through the interior sheet metal of the door to access them. Manufacturers usually put a ...

re: Is my mechanic ripping me off? (Yes.) Should I take my vehicle somewhere else? - TechME
So is it going to cost about to the same amount no matter where I bring it?
For the window regulator, you aren't gonna save much by just having him lock the window in place. To lock it in place, your mechanic basically has to do all of the work that it would require to just replac...

re: I need autocad help from you experts. - TechME
Check out DWG True View, it's the free AutoCAD viewer published by autodesk, and it has a batch plot function built in. You can't edit, but should be able to open all your drawings and run a batch plot. If you're looking for a free CAD program to use for editing, check out Draftsight, it's publi...
If I remember the article, the bill was 33$ ish. What the frick did those 8 peeps order for only 33$.
For those not keeping up with the original thread, the back story is it was a group of 20 that had the check split. The $33 is just the good pastor's portion of the total check. ...

re: Accepted into La Tech - TechME
As some have said, it's a small town with not much to do compared to larger cities, but that's one of the reasons I went there. You're going there to study and get a degree (hopefully), so fewer distractions make it easier to stay focused. If you're at all into outdoors stuff there's tons of fis...

re: 9mm ammo - TechME
Another vote here for WWB at Wal-Mart. It's a bit of a pain, since you have to find someone to unlock the ammo case and pay for ammo at the register in sporting goods, but it's really hard to beat $21-22 for 100 rounds. ...

re: A little 1911 Buying thread - TechME
I recently picked up the SA Mil-Spec, and it's a great gun. I'm not big on fancy guns with engraving, etc. so the Mil-Spec suits me just fine. Only thing about it is it doesn't have the beavertail grip safety, so if you have oversize mitts and are prone to hammer bite, might want to go for the Kim...
