The OP was "If not Bham, where?" Of course the SEC is fine with the offices staying in Bham and the location of the offices is not a critical factor. People will come to the SEC wherever it is because it is the SEC.
The question though is IF you are going to move where would provide the most be...

[quote]Not Houston. Best reason is that THEY WOULD HAVE TO PAY PREMIUM RENT ON CORPORATE SPACE(which is at an all time high for the forseable future). I doubt the city of Houston would give SEC the deal they are getting in Bham, $1 a year in rent for a very nice peice of property in downtown.
| SEC Rant|| re: Seriously, if not Bham -- where should the SEC - aggressor on 7/24/14 at 2:48 pm|
Houston would be the most impactful move. It's the largest city in the SEC footprint with a strong presence from 2 SEC schools. There is no market that has as much upside potential for the SEC to take over as there is in Texas. Dallas doesn't make sense because the Big 12 is already headquartered...

That's still better than having every tradition at your school be based on a cheap copy of your rival.
Texas' fight song "Texas Fight" was a response to "Farmer's Fight" and mentions A&M.
Texas' hand signal was a response to Gig'em.
Texas' Hex Rally was a response to Bonfire.

I'm expecting Patterson to come out with yet another statement about how playing the game isn't a priority now. They have this conversation with themselves over and over.

You can be a great school and not be in the AAU but if you are in the AAU it is damn hard to not be a great school, especially since they started kicking some strong members to the curb in recent years like Nebraska and Syracuse.

Fournette certainly has talent but the list of elite RB's that end up being busts or just pretty good in college is LOOONG while the list that become elite NFL RB's is tiny. Many of the best NFL RB's weren't even that great in college, Peterson is a true outlier.

Don't feel great about Hill but I think Elam is an Aggie. Hill seems to be all over the board and is at the Texas event this weekend but I think his recruitment stretches out for a while. At some point there are only so many DB's A&M can take and you still have Boyd and Sheffield leaning to A&M.

My point is that it is crazy competitive to get in that Top 10% more than anything, even taking race out of it.
