| Outdoor Board|| re: Need some Coyote hunting advice - AUTimbo on 12/15/13 at 1:18 pm|
I was bow hunting yesterday morning and called two totes in within 20 seconds of hitting a doe bleat call. Came on a rope to 20 yes of my climbing tree but caught my walk in trail and hauled arse just before I could get the shot off.
Smartest animal in the woods bar none. Try the aforementioned r...

As soon as I stop climbing I put safety belt/harness on.
Just try not to climb ironwood trees. Too much slippage as you climb.
Mostly ash, sweet gum and oaks for my climbing. Maybe an occassional pine.
Just don't get in a hurry and check your stand before every seson with a fine to...
| Outdoor Board|| re: Lone Wolf Climbers - AUTimbo on 12/2/13 at 4:29 pm|
I like Lone Wolf stands but their climber is ridiculously overpriced.
I'll take a Summit Open Shot any day of the week.
But I bowhunt exclusively, so no bar is normal for me.
Not to mention Im about 240lbs and stand 90-95% of the time on stand, pardon my pun. So that larger platform helps ease...

Here is a pic (SIAP) of Jeff Foxworthy's 2013 buck killed late Sept.
Not high fenced, although the deer are fed very well by food plots on the property.
One property line of his hunting land is less than 3/4's of a mile from my best friends house.
Needless to say everytime I ...

Anyhow, back to the rut, it really did break wide open Thurs. My am hunt was cut short due to rain. Bow got absolutely soaked to the bone, as did I, so I called it quits earlier than usual (10:15)On my way back to truck swung by and picked up a game cam to move it to a hotspot on edge of swamp I fou...

Took last week off to hunt down in Georgia (Harris County). Should have been solid pre-rut but weather was not doing them or me any favors.
Thurs rain/low pressure came in followed by cold front later that night. They went ape shite.
Of course Thurs aftn was my last hunt since SOMEONE had scheduled...

I'll give Stan this. He does kill some big arse monsters. And usually makes a good/great shot on them. So I willnot doubt his ability to lace a big-un.
Just don't care for his over-the-top demeanor.

Much of our pain is self-chosen. Crossbows are just a way to get gun hunters more days in the woods. They are the worst thing to ever happen to deer hunting (not including people with a true handicap that use them because they cannot physically use a compound bow).

But you really need to practice this shot . From a treestand a straight down shot can really screw with your mechanics bad. Just draw like you would at a distant target and then bend at the waist to keep good shot form.
Depending on your set up you may have to use your 40-50 yard pin for...
