re: Do you know anyone who makes over 100k and work 40 or less hours? With stat link - JoseVargasTX
I made $130k as an employee doing the same thing I do now, but I own the company now and make $500,000.00 two and a half years in. I start my day at 6 am and here it is 9:30 pm and I'm still working. However, I can do what I want when I want and I am grooming people to do my daily job. If I can step...

re: Using a CD to borrow against for rental property - JoseVargasTX
Currently the money is getting .01% return sitting in the bank. We put $50K a year into a SEP and I don't want to put anymore than that into the market right now. I want to know if putting this money into a CD and borrowing against it is a good idea or not. The property is in good shape--brand ne...

re: Self employed folks-when did you decide to be your own boss? - JoseVargasTX
I was making lots of money for someone else. Found a silent partner who saw my vision and bank-rolled me. Two and a half years later I own a $15,000,000 company and live a life I never dreamed of. Big leap, huge reward. When you make $100,000 in a month, your heart beats a little faster and your...

re: Break it down - your finances - JoseVargasTX
We cover all payroll taxes, workers comp, and carry GL on all of the guys we put out in the field. When you present a customer with a bill rate on a $25 an hour guy at $35-36 an hour, they get a little nervous. Ideally we like to markup at a 1.5 multiplier, but you don't always get that. Sometimes w...

re: Break it down - your finances - JoseVargasTX
My offices bill on average $270K (two offices total billing) a week. We are not a day labor company so our hourly bill rates on the guys we put out to work are in the upper $20s to low $40s per hour. When you're running a GP of 22% on those numbers, you can see how it's a great business model....
