re: Spinoff....Is cost plus 10% for a new home a fair price? - Who Me
It can be done, sure. But one of the best parts of using an established builder is he has trustworthy subs that work for him year round. Try to coordinate subs for an entire house from scratch. You'll be punching your own balls out your pants
Good subs are a must. I got many of m...
I've never met someone that said they would do it again. Have you?
Yes I have actually. I am not trying to discredit what a general contractor does. It's a lot for someone to take on if they don't know what they are getting into. But everyone's situation is unique....

re: Spinoff....Is cost plus 10% for a new home a fair price? - Who Me
I never claimed to know all the ins and outs of building. All I am saying is that there are people who can successfully subcontract the construction of their own house while saving money and getting a quality build. It's not impossible. People do if all the time. People also lose their asses d...

re: Spinoff....Is cost plus 10% for a new home a fair price? - Who Me
I never said it wasn't a fair price. It is fair for services rendered. I do think it is silly for someone to say that it is always a bad idea when someone considers subbing out a house on their own. Like it cannot be done by a person unless they have a ton of experience in the business....

re: Questions about building a house and costs - Who Me
I subbed out the building of my house in 2010. I think I ended around $93 a square foot also. You don't have to be an expert contracter to sub it out yourself. You will need good subs, a flexible schedule to be able to at the property just about every day while work is being done, and most of...

The Shimano Sedona combo with the Cabela's Tourney trail rod is pretty good but at the top of your budget. The Pfleuger combo is bit cheaper and will also work. Here are a few options in your price range: [link=(http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/browse/spinning-combos/_/N-1102843+10000050/Ne...

re: Boat Purchase thread (Bay Boat edition) - Who Me
That's a good price. But once you factor in the costs of getting it transported back here then registered for LA the deal isn't quite as sweet. I have routinely seen lightly used 24 footers for sale in the sportsman in the 50's. Some with 300's....

Well I was at a completely different price point. The 24 footers are really nice in just about any brand now a days and they are all going to be pretty good rides.. I am not sure how many people actually need a full size 24 footer as opposed to how many buy one just because that's what they want. ...
