re: "The Friend" article in this month's Esquire - eitek1
That is perhaps the worst website on the internet to try and read something on. I read the whole thing. The world is a better place because of people like him. Tell him "thanks" for me......

re: Paris or London which would you prefer to spend a couple of days in? - eitek1
When you are in the subway in Brussels and you see the guy selling the waffles, don't get freaked out. Buy one immediately. They are incredible. It will be the first of many you buy there. Also, the doors stay open for seconds... you gotta be fast. ...

re: Paris or London which would you prefer to spend a couple of days in? - eitek1
Brussels is good. Spent a few days there too. You will really like Germany. I didn't go to Berlin but went to Nuremberg and Munich. I loved the place. I feel due to the density of cool stuff geographically, London allows you to see more stuff. My wife and I were there for 48 hours and saw a ton...

re: Paris or London which would you prefer to spend a couple of days in? - eitek1
I was in Europe for something else and went to London one weekend and Paris the next. London was way better. Paris I didn't really like. My wife didn't either. Just wasn't as good. We did go to the Normandy area for a few days and it was wonderful. I'd do it over again. If you just have ...

re: Adapters/Converters for International Travel since Tech Board is Slow - eitek1
Tell you GF not to use her curling iron or straightening iron even if you have a converter. It will get hotter than normal and burn her hair off. My wife can attest to this. We laugh about it now but she wasn't amused then....

re: I don't mind gay people, but I feel like I am being gayed to death. - eitek1
The media dispenses outrage and propaganda. Those are their only two products anymore. No one really reports the news they report their agenda and the latest thing you need to be "outraged" about. Modern society is like being in the 9th grade. It's a popularity contest (Facebook) and rumor and go...

re: Longest time after an interview you have gotten a job offer? - eitek1
6 months one time. Interviewed for a job and they said I'd know in two weeks. Two weeks come and go and nothing. At three weeks I call the HR rep. She says "no decision yet". So I call Betty once a week at the same time. She always tells me " not yet but soon". After six months I say " Betty, tel...

re: Global oil glut set to grow as China slows crude imports - eitek1
For all the haters that think its stupid for skilled trades to make over 80k a year, consider this... It's a simple value proposition. Would you pay some one an additional 40k a year if you were certain that 40k worth of skill would buy you an additional 1MM$ worth of production in up time? Su...

re: While most of you are taking today off I wish we had more driven people like him - eitek1
This can be a trap people fall in without realizing it. Sometimes people strive to be stellar at their "craft" and it's admirable. It can go too far though. When you are many years in and all you do is work or think about work it's something else entirely. At that point it's hard to turn it off a...

re: Motor oil at -40F The good, the bad, and the ugly. - eitek1
I've got a trailblazer that has only ever had Mobil 1 in it. I did a compression test on the motor at 225k miles. There was effectively no compression loss on the motor at all. This indicates no substantial wear in the cylinder bores or he piston rings even after all those miles. I've worked on ...

re: New Most Expensive Painting Ever: - eitek1
Sorry but the Gaugin looks amateurish. Look at the weird angle on the foot. It looks like something I would do and if you saw it without the reference of who did it, would think it suggested a lack of talent. Also, the two subjects look like they belong in another painting with a different backg...

re: Found this WWII government produced film about the death camps. Death Mills. - eitek1
if you link them I'll watch them. You do realize that it's like you are trying to deny the existence of the moon. So all of the soldiers who describe liberating the camps got together to fabricate the stories? If you haven't actually walked through a camp like I have, you aren't in a position ...
