re: Has anyone tried "Oil Pulling"? - Freebird11
I believe it is supposed to act as an emulsifier to "pull" the plaque/tartar into the oil that you eventually spit out. Since those aren't water soluble or rinse out as well with water/toothpaste. The principle of it sort of makes sense but I only did it once out of curiosity. Can't speak to the whi...

re: Topography/Geology of Vidalia vs Natchez - Freebird11
Yes the image in my last post illustrates that fault and others in south LA. So many people think it's crazy to have faulting down here since we associate them with major rifts or active areas like the San Andreas but it's one of the main tools geologists use when prospecting for oil reserves in the...

re: Topography/Geology of Vidalia vs Natchez - Freebird11
No I don't but the map doesn't illustrate how and across what time scales those features came to be, whether one before the other or concurrently... think of Grand Canyon but on a different scale. The MS river is located along the MS embayment, which is basically a synclinal fold or passive conti...

There is pretty much consensus of the origin of the loess today and many publications on it. Here's a fairly current report with a good section on origin [link=(http://www.lgs.lsu.edu/deploy/uploads/Loess%20Map%20of%20LA.pdf)]Louisiana Loess[/link] While the hills may be part of an uplift event ...

re: LSU Petroleum Engineering Department Close to Losing Accreditation - Freebird11
Makes sense. I asked because I'm starting the MS geol program at LSU in the fall. I didn't really look into ULL at this point because where I am with work/life LSU was best option. I'm hoping their ADG program is as good as it sounds and I'll get out of it as much as I can. Good luck to you ...

[link=(http://i.imgur.com/I1DmDqO.jpg)]Historic River Meanders near Natchez[/link] As was stated above, alluvial forces continually cutting against the same aeolian deposits. Must be the ultimate path of least resistance in the area because it has always gone back to historic Natchez each time it...

Thanks and yea I agree. I'm trying to get on with more risk/water work in the near future and would like to be more well-rounded in that respect. I don't know much about air work and don't know if I would enjoy it because there's no field component and that's something I like to have. But I'll t...
