| Pelicans Talk|| re: The Lakers Trade that wasn't - Revisited - brmark70816 on 3/7/14 at 7:51 pm|
I think it's weird to just compare the 2 trade options, when people never bring up the 3rd option. Which was to never trade Paul in the first place. We controlled him for one more season and could have gotten value for him in a S&T the next summer. It was a strike shortened season. We could have res...

I don't think it pays out at a billion dollars anyway. I think they said the lump sum is around 600 or so million and then there are taxes and all to take account of. If you hedge with 500 million, you might end up like 100 million in debt. There isn't a casino or bookie in the world taking more tha...
He's doing the same with Roberts now.
I don't see what other option he has. Roberts is the only active PG on the roster. He plays some of Rivers and Evans there, but until Holiday gets healthy or they bring in another PG, what else can they do? That's what happens when you carry 4...
Young and what else? You'd be the 2012 blazers
I don't even remember what happened to the 2012 Blazers. Did they have a weak bench and it cost them a trip to the playoffs? Otherwise, I don't see where it would matter. It's not that hard to build a decent bench. For most teams, it...
It doesn't have to be permanent just kind of like a tryout.
To what end? We know he can play some PG and SG. But he has the opportunity to play SF full time and possibly lock the position down. He can still handle the ball and run the offense. I'm hoping with more playing time ther...
I say try him out. It can't hurt.
The guy is finally starting at SF, has one of his best games of the year, so we should move him to a position he can't defend? He is a good passer, that doesn't make him a PG. Lebron is a masterful passer, but the Heat still put out Chalmers or Co...
You honestly believe this team is better with Austin Rivers or Brian Roberts running the point over Tyreke? That is absolutely absurd

So you're saying he can't guard any position on the court?
I'm saying he's over 220lbs and can't move well enough to cover 170lb PGs. They destroy him every time. He could stick a big SG, but he should be playing SF.. you know, if he could shoot..

| Pelicans Talk|| re: Draft Pick Questions - brmark70816 on 3/2/14 at 10:35 am|
With Holiday out for the year, Philly spanked us in that trade. They would get two 10 picks and saved 5M+ this year. We shot our load too early and didn't build the way we should have (stockpiling picks and cap space until we had a core ready to compete). These moves will haunt us for years.. ...
That depth would be awful
I'll never understand this board's fascination with bench players. You don't need great players sitting on the bench. You just need some energetic role players. Besides, they would have Young, who can start if needed and plays 2-3 positions..
With Philly situation they will have a team similar to what they had b4 with Iggy/turner/Jure/Willams/etc when they made the playoffs in 2012. | Pelicans Talk|| re: Who do you guys want with our Top 5 pick? - brmark70816 on 2/26/14 at 11:40 pm|
I like Parker, but he is a lot like H. Barnes and might be a stretch 4 type of a guy. I think he mainly plays Center for Duke, so maybe that is what makes me think that. He isn't in the best shape though and has problem with speed. I think it'll be a tougher transition for him than people think. But...
| Pelicans Talk|| re: Who do you guys want with our Top 5 pick? - brmark70816 on 2/26/14 at 10:16 pm|
I would take Wiggins first, then Parker. The kid is going to be a star and is a freak athlete. We already have an inside/outside combo (Holiday and Davis). Having a great wing would compliment them perfectly. We would just need to add a bruiser to help out Davis on the blocks and a decent shooter at...

I understand what you are saying, but you are overlooking a simple point. You can get similar or better players for cheaper money. You can contact the Bucks and trade a 2nd rounder for OJ Mayo, they would do it in a heart beat. You would get the same production for almost half the money. I can find ...

I seriously do not see one GM dumb enough to trade for Gordon right now. It would almost be as dumb as trading for Amare. He is a limited, out of shape, over paid player with a body made of glass. He isn't a name anymore, if he ever was. He is the 3rd or 4th best player on a sub .500 team making top...

The schedule is pretty tough to end the year. I'm thinking they finish 9-18 the rest of the way. Maybe worse if they hold out Holiday and Anderson the remainder of the season. So about 32-50 sounds about right. That would probably put them at about 9th in the lottery. Would take a miracle to win a t...
