re: So who all is gonna be toting 20ga's for duck this year? - lv2bowhntAU
I shoot 3 1/2 10 gauge and to be honest it is the smoothest shooting shotgun I've ever shot. Most ppl don't understand how that works
I do. It's called WEIGHT. That's why I said earlier I'd shoot a 10ga before I'd shoot 3-1/2" 12ga shells. The 10ga will outperform them every time...
20-gauge: definitely adequate 12-gauge: definitely better If I do my part by getting the bird within 40 yards and putting the pattern in the right place: same result.
Yup I agree. I've never felt undergunned how I hunt with a 20ga but a 12ga does have advantages no doubt...

I know several folks like that Downshift. I think a lot of the reason more folks don't is mental. Granted ya range is limited a little bit. But I'm more than comfortable out to 40yds or a little better with my 20ga. Since I don't shoot any farther really with my 12ga it doesn't affect me or my hun...

re: Help Buying an ATV - lv2bowhntAU
That's a good point Gaston, but most folks fail to remember that most SxS's stance is wider than most 4 wheelers which helps make them more stable. I know when I had my Rhino I could take it on more hills that a lot couldn't take their 4 wheelers both going sideways and vertical. Can't say though on...

re: Help Buying an ATV - lv2bowhntAU
I've got a 800 Ranger and I wouldn't ever consider going back to a 4 wheeler. It's way too much more comfortable, hauls more, and will go through just as much rough stuff as a 4wheeler. You do however hAve to watch it on tight trails due to its width. Which is a plus at times too because now all tho...

Wasn't trying to start an argument guys. Just wondering who else would be shooting only 20ga's this time. I guess in some people's minds a 20ga may be unethical. But a. 20ga @40yds is no more unethical than a 3-1/2" 12ga @ 60yds. Duck hunting to me isn't taking pot shots at 60yd birds. It's putting ...

I can honestly say I've never shot a 3-1/2" 12ga at a duck. Always did fine with 3" shells so I never felt the need. Although I do know some folks are firm believers in them. ...

If I'm gonna be shooting a 3-1/2" its gonna be a 10ga. Heck my Gold 10ga kick less than any 3-1/2" 12ga I've ever shot. Then again as heavy as it is it should kick less :rotflmao:...

So who all is gonna be toting 20ga's for duck this year? - lv2bowhntAU
Im finally making the move to using a 20ga exclusively this year. Gonna make it a lot easier to carry just one type of shells since my wife, and my oldest daughter both already shoot 20ga's. I picked up a M2 20ga this summer and knew right away it was going to be what I carried this winter. Gonna fe...
